Good points. It looks like the airbag will come down between the bar and driver anyway right?Have any naysayers on the safety factor here ever driven or ridden in a Jeep with the same style grab bars?
I have.
Fun fact, they are even closer to your face than this guy’s iteration.
I applaud his problem solving.
version 1.0 is done.
If he wants to refine it, a dremel would neaten up the holes, maybe a bit more “fancy” on the design by bending tube/bar, whatever.
If it works and the airbag isn’t hindered, great!
Yeah, it’s a larger potential for injury but these same bars have been getting installed on thousands of Jeeps long before his adaptation.
And they are handy as handles on a box for getting in and out by.
And closer to your face.
These are not solid. They move when you are getting bounced around on the trail. I liked the solid ones they made for the JK that screwed into existing bolts. I like the flag on these though. What's wrong with these - they don't interfere with the Airbags and are nice and soft for your noggin (I know because I graze this every time I get in and out)? Also - not terribly expensive and use the available 'Accessory Ready' screws.
Were you looking for constructive feedback/criticism or just general praise? If you're going to publicize your ideas you should expect both IMHO.But I’m not posting anymore mods I do.
same here. My wife loves themThe wife makes GOOD use of these hoisting herself in and out. I'm glad I got 'em.
Bolt ons are done. Rest is all custom/fab work. Mods won’t apply to the general bronco owner or be able to be bought. Been pushing the general envelope with most of what’s on my truck as it is. Now we’re going off the reserve with the rest. Were you looking for constructive feedback/criticism or just general praise? If you're going to publicize your ideas you should expect both IMHO.
NO amount of foam or bubble wrap is going to negate or lessen the laws of physics. This stationary metal bar will require its own dedicated air bag . . . and even then, good luck! That is true, but could wrap it in something protective. Very creative though.
