The whole back of it just popped off. Looks like it clips in somehow, but after trying to reattach it myself in very limited access 2 door, I gave up. 95 degree weather and 90% humidity doesn’t help either.
Back to dealer. If anyone has tips to reattach I’d love to hear it.

From the orientation of those top clips, it looks like you need to take the whole thing off and start with the top.

No overload. I was just driving around Siesta Key beach, and it dropped off. It’s a very tight fit by looking at the other seat. I think you need ape strength to get the clips to secure properly.

I'd force the dealership to deal/document it as a warranty issue rather than trying to fix it myself.
No reason that should happen just driving around town.

Or you could save yourself the time and feed the top in first then align the back evenly and push firmly where the two lower clips are. Should just snap in. Might have never been completely in from the factory and the heat and vibration from driving was enough to have it come off. If that isn't the fix, then go to the dealer.

True. but for $60K or so that should not happen and some one other than me would need to feel some pain and need to do paper work!

Thanks everyone. I tried to start with the top clips first but frankly they fall about 1/2” short of clipping into the slot. Seems like you need a LOT of strength to get them in - or some seat factory machinery. I’m no wuss, but I couldn’t apply enough pressure. Going to dealer and have them fix it.

And since this happened while you were driving, it could have very well kilt you. I'm sure the trauma is still lingering. I'd pursue a sizable settlement. Just think of all those "night's sleep" you lost. Your wife may have a claim also. Let us know how this ends. :)

My guess is you will need to remove the seat to get that panel back on considering you were not able to with it in the vehicle. I'd definitely have the dealership take a look at it. The worst thing you want is breaking one of those pins, then it won't fit securely and the dealership will claim that you caused the damage. Parts too, I wouldn't want to gamble on parts availability right now if you need to replace it. Good luck and hope its an easy fix!
