Ford Bronco My Starlink Mini Mount IMG_0106
Before I discovered Starlink would work through the roof, I repurposed the velcro zippered storage compartment of my yeti go-box 30 liter and attached it to my headliner as a mini "attic" for park and trail documents. Removed some heavier booklets and it now holds the Starlink Mini perfectly.

Plugged in a cheap DC power adapter, and adjusted it so the unit could be partially exposed and cooled off, and haven't received overheating notification since with a couple weeks using it now

Wifi at the beach allows me to smoke meats longer. Before I discovered these posts I was close to buying a weboost. As satisfying of a mod as affixing the maui jim sunglass case I already owned to the plastic roof.

Hmm, have not tested it with me sleeping above it.
Probably keep your nuts warm though, all that EM blowing through from the dish up to the satellites

No issues going through my soft top or fiberglass Rallytop, but I suspect if you had any sort of metal top (the aluminum, for instance), or some roof racks, that may block it.

I can see the edge of my C-Pillar / Roll Bar on the Starlink obstruction map

Mine is on an attic shelf in the back, since I occasionally drop the top and change between hard and soft with the seasons

I found even with the 50G plan if you don’t let the phone cache music on local storage you will blow through amazing amounts of data.

Apple Music is pretty good about handling that automatically. Spotify did it as well but wasn’t as good with variety unless you self-curated

And that goes back to how well the apps buffer with crappy connections. Spotify was better at handling it admittedly, but once Apple Music can build up its cache it does a better job without repeating a bunch of the same songs over and over

it took a good month before Apple got to the point where it caught up to what Spotify can do normally, but once it did I found I liked it much better than Spotify

now, how that relates to a 500kbps cap - I don’t know (yet)
streaming music with pandora/alexa streaming on high quality doesn’t use much data.

i say that because i use the Bronco ATT with unlimited data….. and i stream pandora through it. With my iPad…. About 96 hours per month, And according to my data usage from ATT for my bronco. I am barely using 15gb per month, that includes other data as well.

Which shelf is that? How did you secure your mini to it? Thanks in advance. I just got one and I'm researching mounting options.

The Mount cost more than the dish, I'm glad my DIY works so well.
