I have a stock no option base as the dealer defaulted my build when pushed to a 2023 but I took it anyway wasn’t going to let them profit anymore then they can.
Anyhow I have new wheels
17x8.5 +25 looking for tire options I plan to do a 2 inch lift but still don’t think I want to go 35 with the gearing of the Manual Transmission.

This is some of the wheels that I have to choose from. Or I’ll have to find another place or special order.

looking for some pros and cons or another tire I should be looking at. Really don’t want a MT as they are not great in rain or snow and I’m probably more on then off road and will end up with a all mud tire if we are wheeling for the weekend out in the pi’s and mud. I also really don’t want a E Rated tire as they are to harsh. I know I’m limited with that in the sizes of 295 and 305. I don’t really want to go to a pizza cutter tire with the 8.5 wheels.
So any advice?

I put 285/70/17 on my base with a 2” lift. And I think they are the perfect size. I really like the falken wildpeak at3. Great all around tire.

I really don’t think you’ll have any issues with 35s paired to the 4.46 gears if that’s the only thing stopping you. If that’s the look you want then you can definitely handle 35s without needing to re-gear.

I have a base 2 door with an auto transmission. I put a leveling kit on and some LT285/70/R17 Load Rating C Nitto Ridge Grapplers (33"). I have taken it to Death Valley and did some off-roading there with zero issues. I also did a trail in Bishop, CA that had dirt, gravel, mud and snow and didn't need to use 4 wheel drive. If you plan on doing rock crawling then maybe go to 35", but I bought mine for snow and dirt roads since my Mini Cooper can't make it down any of that stuff. Here's some pictures of it and my dad's Gladiator on Christmas Eve 2022 on Buttermilk Road in Bishop, CA. The Gladiator is running 35" BGF K02s as my parents live in Mammoth Lakes, CA where it snows from mid-fall to early spring.

The general consensus here has been that the base with 4.46 gears works great with a 285/70R17 tire. Even with +25mm you should be fine with the crash bars still on and no lift. Some have gone up to a 315/70R17 or 35x10.5R17 with 4.46 gears and reported that sixth gear was less usable. I don’t see the benefit of going to a 295 or 305. I have a badlands manual with the 4.70 gearing and I’m really happy with the drivability on 285/75R17 on 17x8.5 +35mm wheels.

Certainly stick with a C rated tire on these trucks. The BFG AT in 285/70R17 is a great all around tire that isn’t too heavy at 51 pounds. If your off-roading is limited you could find a lighter SL rated tire in 285/70R17. The Falkens on your list are good tires, but at 63.7 pounds for a C rated they are too heavy for me to consider.

Here are some light weight options.

Firestone SL 41#

Pics of mine on 285/75R17. These measure 33.9” tall. Yours with 285 wide tires and +25 mm offset would poke the tire out 10mm (.4”) more than mine
