Pleasantly surprised at the price, shocker for a Ford Accessory.

They're afraid the additional 25lbs weight capacity will tip a Badlands over, if it has a 2.7l
This price is ridiculous. My Subaru STi factory cross bar kits are like $175 and hold just as much weight.

My local dealer offered to order from their dist. But as it’s no return and has no eta date they’d be sitting on my $800 till this thing magically showed up. Trying to find something for a surfboard :( guess I’ll wait and just stuff the board inside

Anyone know what the difference is between the 2 and 4 door racks besides the obvious? The mounting points on the both vehicles appear to be the same dimensions.
I think a previous thread has the front to back side rails as different part numbers.

Yes I saw that before, but I am wondering why because the length appears to be the same.

It's like $1150 up here in Communist Canada...
Seriously, you guys are having a go of it up there. Not that we aren't fighting it here too.

Thanks man... Yeah, it's not pretty. The clown in charge is over reaching for a power grab with the war measures act. Unbelievable...
I'm sure the White House is watching closely. 🤔

I'll go with BadAss Tents rack for a few hundred more 🤷
Especially since the BATents version doesn't have a prohibition against 2.7s.

Does anyone know who actually makes the OEM rack?

Because I'm a moron, I took my MIC top off this weekend, when I removed the rack to take off the middle section of the top, I needlessly loosened the rear passenger plastic cover that covers the bolts for the rear cross member, thinking that's what I took off to remove the rack (obviously it isn't) and I forgot to tighten it back down....it blew off on the highway somewhere.

Here's a pic of the driver's side one. It's stamped with a part number but when I called Ford they don't have that as a part number.....parts guy said it might be from the manufacturer.

But, I'd obviously like to replace it

Looks like a factory Ford part to me. Aftermarket stuff doesn't have Ford molded in.

That's what I thought and the parts guy didn't have that number at all.

Well, I located the part:

M2DZ-7855183-BC

Found it online for $37 plus shipping.

Incidentally:

Are those of you with roof racks running them all the time, or leaving them off and then using only when you need to haul something.

I actually read that the empty roof rack can decrease MPG 3-6% or so...with gas prices as they are...every drop counts.

I like the look of the roof rack, but now that mine is off, I also like that look.

Not to mention the MIC really is a pain in the ass to remove with the roof rails .
