Did a deep dive into this...I would wager you could use the AUX switch connection in the rear (if equipped) for your connection to the vehicle. That way it would only draw while the engine is running. As far as I can tell those AUX switches only work with your ignition in accessory.

Looks like whether that sensing circuit is live or not, the controller will still draw current from the truck battery when the truck is off and the "house battery" is disconnected.
I believe 1 of the AUX switches is rated at 30A....? You could conceivably connect the controller to that for alternator charging current to the controller, but then when you're parked, the unit can't monitor and top up the truck battery.
