It's ironic how much back and forth I know I have personally done between Trims and such... and yet I feel the same with you when it comes to color. If one Trim only offers dark butt interior colors, and a different trim has the lighter.. I'm probably going with the lighter... maybe even if it means Vinyl vs Cloth vs Leather.

I can't stand all dark interiors just like I can't stand all black cars. Need to have some character to the thing!
I read the most popular color - Cactus Grey, is only available starting with the Black Diamond. Bummer. Ford forces you into trim levels for no apparent reason. The trims and packages are all designed to get as much money out of you as possible.
If you want to save, big compromises. The option packages always come with stuff you dont care about.

Color interiors. I personally can not stand brown plastic. Feels like a dishonest material - and always looks gross. So I end up with all black interiors. Which are also easier to maintain - with scratches and blemishes.
That said, some of the light grey/white options look interesting - and grey plastics dont look fake / baby poop / gross - like "beige/brown/taupe" plastics do. Like the 90's.

For me it's the cost of the leather that will decide. I have put Katzkin in three of our vehicles and it is an amazing product. My F-150 Supercrew was less than $1500 all in and is cool in summer even without vented seats. Leather as an option is number 5 down my list which starts with the hard top followed by the sound deadening liner, power seats and 2.7. After that I really don't care. Of course, as has been mentioned my choices will likely change when I can configure and price various options.

so this is the optional front bumper. But at the end is says there’s a steel rear bumper. Am I just confused, cause I thought it came with plastic bumpers std front and rear? Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather have the steel bumpers, just curious.

My dilemma is the financing. I've basically bought my last 4 vehicles outright... but I've always been under 30k OTD. This one ain't going to be that easy. So CAN i buy any trim or package I want.. sure... but should I .... I dunno.

I just realized that the Wildtrack is basically the OuterBanks that I want minus a few one-off items and that one is 10K more.

It's always the same issue .. for just X more you can get Y... make it stop!!!!!

I truly appreciate this forum, and this thread. Provides an opportunity to compare and contrast my needs and wants with y'all. Thank you! For me I'm trying to find the ideal balance between daily driver comfort with capability on unpaved park and fire roads. Will not be rock-hopping or desert blasting. 18" alloys with 70-series A/T will work fine. I want 2.7L with 4x4 auto on-demand for additional all-weather security. Watching trailering capability closely - would like to be able to tow ~4,500 lb. (eyeing Airstream Basecamp X - would prefer 20' over 16' to carry more stuff). For DD duties seeking the comforts and conveniences you find on a typical SUV/crossover.

Editing to add that my 2003 F150 SuperCrew has been great for unpaved road towing. 5.4L with tow package and posi rear diff. Goes nearly everywhere I want to go. Love this thing and still running strong, but starting to get a little long in the tooth.

Hopefully they will have a robust Standalone Options list.
But not likely, the money is in forcing you to buy options you could care less about.
......Glovebox warmer..... paired with adaptive cruise control

My interpretation of that is that the optional bumpers are sold as a front and rear pair. So you can't buy the front only. Stockers are plastic

Wildtrack is pretty close to outer banks + big motor + Sasquatch

That tells us that roughly 10k is the add for Sasquatch and motor, which is going to be a ride awakening for everyone once pricing is announced.

Probably 6k Sasquatch and 4k for the motor......
And that pricing doesn't account for the outer banks already having an auto trans as standard, so the motor upgrade charge will be even higher for models with a stick as standard

I could see the Sasquatch package costing a pretty steep amount. Ford generally has charged around $1500 for motor upgrades from what i can find.

Who knows...

Who else is on the list for an outer banks?

The wife and I put in for an oxford white 4 door. We plan on getting the 2.7 and the high package. Im a sucker for that huge 12 inch screen.

Oh and of course the modular black hard top roof.
We're thinking the 2-door ORB (Ford's letter code) with the Lux package, 2.3, leather and the on-demand 4x4. We'll want something that is civilized on-road, good for snow and also great for unpaved, rutty roads but doesn't need to do Moab-like rock trails.

Cactus Grey is a top color choice, but it would be nice to be able to see colors in person before having to decide. If Cactus doesn't work, Iconic Silver looks great.

Anyone know if the Cactus Grey is metallic? & the white?
Love the non-metallic colors for a more throwback pure look

Oxford White is non-metallic. I'm believing Cactus Grey is non-metallic. For me Cactus Gray with white roof is my fave. Will go white grill and white fender flares if offered. Would go white steelies if offered. Draw the line on white door handles though.

I love the exact same spec - but I think body colored flares maybe integrate better for me.
White top and white steelies

On the info I have ... Cactus Gray availability starts with the Big Bend on up. Cheers

I suppose i could ask here. I currently have a reservation for a Big Bend. My intention was to go BB plus mid package and 10-spd auto, as well as add any of the other stand alone options that caught my eye.
I have since come to the conclusion that even though the Outer Banks is $5500ish more, it comes standard with 95% of everything that i want. Also comes with body color mirrors, door handles and fender flares (which i really don't care for) so that is also a plus to consider.

Do you know think this is the smarter route to go? (i know this is an OBX thread, but be honest).

Thanks!
