I just hit to big 5-0 and i want a rig I can drive for the next 20 yrs then hand off to the grandkids. Better go big now and fill your boots then wishing I had those features later. I picked all the features that would be very expensive to add later (lux package, Sasquach, 2.7, ect) and leave out the accessories that i can incrementally add (wench, tailgate table, roof rack). I live in the PNW so lots of opportunities to hit the trail.

It’s very much as simple as I state, 0.4L difference.

I don’t care if it’s Turbo and supercharged like the tiny Chinese Volvo engines. I don’t want a 2L V8 any more than I want a 2L 4 cylinder.
It’s not 1980, liters don’t matter, the V6 is not underpowered at all. You can always wait for the 6.4L Wrangler if you need a large V8 that badly. I can personally attest to that engines smiles per miles.

Not trying to be the purchase police..... Just scratching my head and wondering why so many folks are willing to part with 5-10k extra for functional aesthetics when they can just add aesthetics and save some bucks.
But hey if you got the $$ to burn knock yourself out
Any idiot can be uncomfortable.

And potentially saving the environment for our children and theirs?

Liters mattered less in the 1980s when turbo were the in thing, I don’t see much purpose in buying smaller displacement today as much power and economy as larger engines now achieve.

Who am I to judge what people buy or do with it afterwards?

To be fair I drive maybe 15 miles a day on roads that max out at 45MPH, so I didn't really need a Mustang GT with all the track goodies on it. But I wanted it, could afford it, and didn't need more reasoning than that.
Agree. My current vehicle is a 2013 GMC pickup that i bought a little over 5 years ago. It had 19k miles when i bought it and currently has 40k. Averaging around 4500 a year. My BL Bronco will probably fall in the same category mileage wise but hey when i do drive it, its gonna turn heads. Do I need it? Of course not, BUT I WANT IT!!

This same argument can be made for almost anything. Why buy a Starbucks coffee (feel free to swap out Starbucks with any of your awesome local java places that make $5-$10 coffee's) when you can make coffee at home for pennies?

Wait, who even goes to the mall anymore??? I can’t remember the last time I went.
Mine will be a UPS store crawler, taking back my Amazon returns.

I keep reading this board everybody sounds like they need the squatch package and the larger engine. I would be willing to bet the majority of these vehicles will be mall crawlers rather than overlanders or rock crawlers.
Mall crawler you don't need much you only want to bedazzle it cause it looks cool
DD with occasional overlanding probable only need 33s and rear lockers at most
True off-roader rock crawler you will benefit from the works.
And....?

Engine size has absolutely zero to do with the environment but nice try attempting to justify it.
ummmmmm, ok? Larger engine means more gas consumption (Diesel being far worse), means more exhaust, means more particles per square liter, means more pollution. Some truth to your saying the size doesn't truly matter, its the gas consumption. Yet pretty much across the board, larger engines mean less gas mileage means more gas needed to go the same distance means more pollution.

The more it has the better your trade in or resale price in the future.
