You say that like I can't afford it. Pretty sure of yourself there, aren't you? You are doing what every other company does and charging a premium when there is something shiny and new. It is absolutely a cosmetic upgrade. The only thing it does help, is it sorta helps you in fog/heavy rain. $1000, why don't you tell the good people of this site what it costs you before selling to the consumer. I wouldn't buy from you based off of principal, not money.
I think you took his reply the wrong way man. Hammer Built didn’t make the lights. As for barely useful, did you even look at the pictures and videos? And asking a company to disclose their cost? The S1s are like $230/pair, at $1000 these are hardly marked up, especially for a kit. Businesses gotta make money too

I’m guessing these are strictly off-road, not SAE?

There is no backlit option on the S1s. The screw heads come in a stainless finish. The reason for that is the black oxide hardware is prone to getting messed up during install, then rusting. Same reason we switched to stainless hardware on our tailgate reinforcement.
Are the stainless screw heads the screws that originally come with the S1s?

If so and if you are willing to spend an extra $126, you can get black bolts from Better Bolts

The S1s are not available in SAE so they are technically not road legal, but who’s really checking 😆 SAE pods are also severely limiting in light output too, FWIW.

We provide new hardware because they are countersunk into the brackets, and the S1 bolts did not fit flush.

@Diode Dynamics SAE pro and max disagree.
You can increase the power and the output will increase, however compared to a regular non SAE light, they will never be as bright. You can compare a DD SAE max to a regular SS3 max and see it for yourself, SAE is very limiting

What's a regular SS3 Max? Please select an optic vs. optic comparison.

(2) SS3 Max LED Pods w/ our SAE-compliant fog optic in 3k selective yellow

The SS3 Max SAE has the widest beam pattern for a fog lamp on the market with unified intensity across the band from left to right.

As for other users mentioning us, there is always the option our our SSC1 SAE-Fog LED pod that utilizes the same chip inside of our SS3 Max known as the Orsram Boost-HX.

Hey there. Thanks for chiming in. There’s no Diode Dynamics fog/wide non SAE option to compare with the SAE fog. We had to compare the SS3 Pro SAE fog to a Squadron Pro wide cornering (non SAE), which we felt was the closest comparison for SAE vs non SAE. There was much more front and peripheral illumination in the non SAE lens due to the less restrictive beam cutoff. Different use cases though, so don’t take that as one company is better than the other.

For a mostly street driven daily driver, an SAE lens would be perfect. When it comes to off-road lighting, a non SAE wide cornering lens suited us better. Now granted, using two different manufacturers is not an exact comparison, but we had to work with what we had on hand.

In fact, (don’t tell boss man that I said this on a public forum) we have a Diode Dynamics SSC1 variant of this fog light kit on our drawing board 😉

Using Baja Designs S1s, our goal was to create the ultimate fog light kit for modular bumper. Our flush fit design replaces the bezel on the S1s and our bracket becomes the new bezel to create a true flush fit design. Looks aren’t everything though, we wanted our kit provide the best lumen/dollar value. With four pairs of S1s you get over 18,000 forward facing, useable lumens. Ensuring you can see every obstacle in your path with enough time to stay in control of your Bronco.

If you’ve ever been out on the trail or backroads and noticed that the stock headlights aren’t sufficient, you aren’t alone. Our flush fit fogs are a true fog light kit and are designed to provide incredible peripheral illumination to ensure optimal visibility and safety. On top of that, getting the lights aimed just where you need them is a worry of the past. No more knocking lights out of alignment when off-roading or washing. We optimized the position of these lights to give you the most visibility in lighting zones 1/2 which will compliment forward facing A pillars, or bumper/grill mounted lights.

If you want a clean fog light kit that looks factory and is actually designed to perform at the highest level, send us a message to learn more about our forum pricing and which beam pattern and color will be best for your application!

Our S1 is currently not available in an SAE. We do offer our S2 SAE & Squadron SAE if you wish to have an SAE-compliant light. Most SAE lights will have less output than any OHV light because they need to be compliant with on-road use. If using OHV lights in the backroads and poorly lit areas use them responsibly and courteously to oncoming traffic. Our OHV light will have better light output and spillage to predict around corners and dips in the road. We want to give props to our friends over at Hammer Built for creating a unique solution with our S1 giving an impressive 18,000 Lumens in the fog light location.
Best,

Did you guys know this kit fits on a Bronco Raptor bumper? Our friend @bourbon_and_raptors on IG sent us these photos of his S1 Fog kit keeping the trail lit on his recent trip to Baja!
