Current Wrangler 392 owner looking at the Filson Edition and the Raptor. I like that the Filson will have the 3.0 (albeit slightly tuned down a bit from the Raptor), but I’m not crazy about the wheels or the interior. I’ve owned two F150 Raptors so I’m familiar with that trim. Here’s my sticking point with the BRaptor: those obnoxious fender flares. I’m curious if other Raptor owners had the same concern and what you think now after owning one. The color matched flares do help but I still find them cartoonish. Any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks!

I too considered a Raptor but couldn’t go there with the fenders. There are some nice aftermarket fiberglass/composite options, but it’s adding $$$ to an already pricey ticket. I liked these:

ADV solves the horrible rear fender OEM flare problem about as well as can be done.

But in the end I decided to save $25K and bought a loaded Badlands. ;-)

I personally feel like the painted ones are totally something you could grow to like. I don't have a Braptor, but I live 0.8 miles from a Ford dealership and see them all the time. The originals are distracting and draw attention to themselves; the painted ones are lot more seamless and can even look nice.

Big Rich (a famous Jeep guy) calls his Braptor an off road couch, so they are nicer than the standard full size. I would pay a little attention to how wide they are if you're not read-in on that; all the Raptors are noticeably wider than Jeeps. Unless you have portals.

The color matched fender flares were not available when I got my Raptor or I would have opted for them (not that they are the perfect answer for the flares). As previously mentioned, there are several aftermarket options in fiberglass that although pricy are very nice. There are also carbon fiber options both regular and gloss by Ford Performance, again, very pricy and probably too baller for most Raptor owners' purposes. Let us know what you decide on and good luck.

Like the Stroppe, and the HEL, I suspect the Filson's to be sitting a long time prior to be heavily discounted to get them moved.
Why didn't you add the Braptor to your list? It too suffers the same fate when the older MY Braptors sit on the lot and Ford has to throw a pile of cash rebates to move them.

We only bought the Raptor because of the ADV fiberglass.... Almost ordered the fiberglass before the Raptor arrived. We called it project liposuction. HAHA

Raptor is an excellent option for capability and cost if you would otherwise modify a standard Bronco.

Especially considering it is covered by factory warranty.

Well, it’s sort of a question of what the OP is going to do with it. They’ll both be plush. The Raptor will be MORE plush, and capable of running dunes at 70+ MPH. The Filson will be more than enough for most off-road adventures, and will look a lot more civilized when you valet at the country club. It’s a single-malt, fly-fishing vibe vs a spiked energy drink & MMA attitude — different strokes for different folks. Filson leans towards Land Rover, while the Raptor is in Hummer territory.

Here we go again. You would let fender flares keep you from buying the best Bronco trim by far? If your wife had big ears would you divorce her. Silly. Get the Braptor and you will not be sorry.
