I'm also finally done with my winch mount install, control box relocation, and camera relocation. It was a bit of a process with some trial and error, but I'm happy with where I am now. Big thanks to everyone here for all the ideas.

I started with the Badlands Apex winch when I hit my first snare. It didn't fit with the parking sensors. And I know the RC instructions tell you you'll have to shave some of it down, and I don't know if the one of the products changed, but it just wasn't going to work. I estimate I would've had to shave off ~3/8" and been just about down to bare wires. So I returned the winch and bought the RC winch instead figuring it had better fit with their own mount. It still required some shaving as they said, but it was much more manageable.

The RC winch also had the advantage of a smaller OEM control box, so it made relocating it more straightforward since I didn't have to re-package it into a project box. I just used some angle iron I had lying around and trimmed, bent, sanded and painted until I got a bracket that fit just right, mounting to the coolant reservoir stud, fender sidewall, and strut bolt. I didn't want to mount on top of the fuse box as I didn't want to limit accessibility to the fuses there, nor did I think the load paths were good through the plastic cover, though I see plenty of people have done that with no issues so obviously it's fine as well.

I also added a cutoff switch near the battery:

I got all this installed and working, and then (reading here - thanks!) realized I needed to add frame horn reinforcements. So, I bough the LOD brackets and took it all back apart. A couple more snags here. One, the LOD brackets interfered with the skid plates, so I had to notch them. Luckily it was just the chain loops for flat towing, so not a load-bearing location for my application.

Second, the bumper-mounting bolts no longer fit! With the winch mount, spacers, and frame brackets each adding 0.25", I needed longer bolts. I got these from McMaster. Obvious in hind-sight, but didn't consider it and was really annoying with my bumper laying on my garage floor for another two days.

I took this opportunity to also relocate the camera since it was useless in the original position, even with the control box relocated. Here I took inspiration from @66GT for the location and trimmed away part of the RC mount.

For the camera bracket though, I just used the OEM Ford parts and whittled them down with a Dremel so that I could sandwich it all back together around the camera like it was from the factory. It was also simple to extend the washer hose, so that still works.

It's not flush like 66GT's was, but fit's within the existing approach angle.

And the view is perfect! When stitched together as a bird's eye view, given the resolution, you'd never be able to tell the location changed.

So in a tangential subject, has anyone had issues with the frame horns bending after installing this mount with the Tricky frame horns reinforcements?

Additionally, anyone know how high above or below the mod bumper top is compared to the winch plate? Looking to see if this will be compatible with the Turn Offroad Baja bar before I start buying parts.

Sorry if this got covered elsewhere, but I don't recall seeing the winch plate relation to the bumper measurements before.

Thanks!
Did you confirm if the bar fit for what you were trying to put together? I'm considering the same and wondered about fit.

To be up front, haven't pulled the trigger yet. However, I reached out to Turn Offroad for some measurements, and it should work in my situation (I also relocated the winch control box for extra clearance).

Here is what Turn Offroad told me: "The lower side of the bull bar site 8" over the actual bumper and extends only 2" In front of the bumper itself. If you measure from your grill to the front of the bumper then add 2 inches thats where that bar will be."

Hope that helps!

This is the same kit I ordered. Smittybilt recommended 3 AWG cable to relocate the solenoid. I couldn't find the specs on the WARN kit, but figured I would take a chance. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see they use 2 AWG cable.

The terminals on the X20 Gen 3 are on top of the motor, so unfortunately it won't look quite as clean as yours. The control box is configured differently as well, but it should still fit on top of the engine bay fuse box...once I relocate the Panda module, that is.

For the Warn relocation kit - did you find the bracket that comes in it helpful? I'm debating if I still need the BAMF bracket or not.

Sorry for the late response, just got home from Drummond Island. I did notch the side of the cover (bottom black piece)

Is the red button in this pic related to the winch install? It is located where I expected to install my control box - so wondering if I've overlooked needing to accommodate a part of the install.

That's a manual isolator to cut power from the winch when not in use.

How many and which bolts did you need to order from McMaster? Figure I should plan for that ahead of time. I'm still on the fence on the actual winch - but will go the same route for the brackets and plate.

Attached a screenshot from the order form. Comes in a pack of 5, and the RC mount uses 4 bolts common to the bumper to attach.

I read the whole thread, but is there a definitive winch that works best to fit in this mount with minimal parking sensor sanding and ease of control box relocation? The smittybilt in the OP appears not to be available and since its latest iteration is 2 generations down line, I was unsure how well it would work. Every YouTube video I watch on relocating the control box for a warn seems to be almost half an hour long despite claims of simplicity.

I have and Openroad winch on mine, not sanding needing. But have not relocated the the control box.
