Roof boxes- harbor freight vs pelican

Anyone have experience with this Apache case from harbor freight ? Just wondering if it would be a good alternative to the 3times as expensive pelican case.

Putting on top of a 2-door roof rack.

I have the Pelican version of this case. TBH, from the pictures I can't tell the difference between the two. I do have a smaller HF Apache case and it's pretty decent quality.

I’ve purchased an Apache case in the past and have taken it all over the globe and didn’t ever have any issues (airlines can be especially trying on gear cases). It even sat out in the rain during an overnight excursion and everything stayed dry.
I’ve also had Pelicans and they were great too.
Biggest difference are the Pelican case latches are overall more durable.

Usually not for guns when on top of the vehicle... Usually just gear that people want to keep dry.

The rifle style cases are low profile and excellent for rack storage imo.

Is the foam glued in on the Apache? Or is it removable? Cover as well?

Excellent cases for the money. The foam is removable and customizable. Works just as well as the pelican case without the price tag.

I came to say, I have used both and both have been very good, but the Pelican latches feel more durable, as was also stated.

Thanks for starting this thread. I certainly don’t need a ballistic case. Just something dependable and water tight. I’ll be keeping an eye on their mailers for a deep discount on the large one. Just checked their flier and they have this one for smaller needs. I’m going to get this to store my GoPro & GMRS cases, Bluetti and other charging cables, etc. It will be nice to have everything in one place.
