If you order the roof rails/crossbars from the factory, do you also get the caps for the windshield frame if you want to take the rails off?

Thanks,

Good to know....
Any advice on where to get a roof rack 101?

Ive never had one and have no idea.

Starting with, so, buy the OEM roof rails and crossbars...What next? Any restriction.
Any assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks

Yes supposedly the caps are in your glove box so double check.

There's a lot of information on this forum about the roof rack, but I know the search sort of sucks.

The two specifications you need to understand is static weight versus dynamic weight.

A roof rack maybe able to hold 400 lb static, but only 100lbs dynamic. Simply put, standing still you can put a lot more weight on a rack than you can when driving.

So yes, you need to be cautious and pay attention to the specs. There are a couple aftermarket roof racks that are coming out for the Bronco that increase those weights because they have more mounting locations (although that doesn't explain the dynamic).

In the real world, if you want a rack that is actually capable of holding a lot of weight, you have to get one that anchors itself to something other than the roof. For example the roll bars, the body, or bumpers.

As it stands right now, the factory roof rack is limited in dynamic weight, cannot be purchased on several trims/options that have too much weight, And frankly the four-door version looks stupid because it looks as if it was designed for a two-door.
