Getting my beauty rings powder coated. The bolts have this yellow residue, threadlocker I guess, that I will clean off. What should I put on the bolts when reinstalled?

Peel the yellow stuff off or it will make you mess up threads when putting them on. Then clean out the holes with air can or something to get yellow crust out of bolt holes. Go at it with clean bolts and holes and it is much easier. Trust me have done this with 3 sets now and it made it easy.

That yellow factory threadlocker is a beeeatch, a wire brush barely phases it. Anything to help remove it? Going to try some acetone and/or mineral spirits and see is it softens it.

I would try a nut to chase the threads. (Find proper size at hardware store, please list here if you find it). I have to clean male threads at work often, I use a fitting or female threads to clean off the male threads.

I am going to need to follow you on this one.

Took the bolts out without issue.

Was planning on going with antiseize over thread locker due to the steel on aluminum. I feel like the threadlocker will make it a bigger PITA if / when you rock rash the beauty rings.

Honestly I am on the fence to just sell the wheels I bought and just not worrying about any of it.

Thanks, I'll try a nut... may just get a M10x1.5 die and run them thru it.

I swapped someone beauty rings several months ago. I was lucky and all my bolts came out no issue. Just manually broke them loose + a few tirns to make sure they felt good, and then an impact to remove them all the way.

Then simply used a wire wheel to clean off the threads, and applied anti-seeze when I put them back in.

Talk them back down using the pattern and spec and have had no issues.
