As the title says, I've got money burning a whole in my pocket (well I've got a current car dying on me and need something to drive untill the Bronco arrives that I then want to have as a project) and I'm really tempted by a 96/97 F250 or 350, single cab, white, small lift on 35s ?

Just interested to see if anyone on here has anything similar?

OBS?

Had a 2001 PSD ....Loved that motor, body went to shot.
By today's standards, the 7.3 power is WEAK! The new 7.3 gasser probably has a lot more grunt.
But the older PSD's could be BUILT!

OBS = Old Body Style, didn't mean to put that in the title was supposed to be before the F250/350 bit!!

Yeah I know standard they're pretty weak but I'm not looking to drag race it! It's mainly the body style truck I want but a lad at work swears by the 7.3! Like you say they can be built!!!

I ain't rich man.

I was looking for an OBS 7.3 but bought an 86 bronco 351W instead. OBS's were going for 15-30k.

I still don't have a replacement for my 06 6.pieceofshit 250, I'll buy an OBS some time in the future, or maybe pick up a used 7.3 godzilla truck in a few years.

My daily is an 03 Excursion with the 7.3. Great rig, but will have to go when my Bronco arrives.

I've seen plenty for under that, can get a decent one for around 10k at the moment, an good older Bronco could easily sway me away from the Truck too

What year is the white one pictured? 97-ish? Definitely sharp!

I like those OK, but I really like the 2001 style I had. (99 to ??) The first Super Dutys.
I forget which year they changed but I thought the factory 05 grill was highly liked for those.

six point NO! (6.0)

I am still operating under the assumption that the 6.0 and 6.4, if "fixed" early (low miles)(bulletproofed) could be really good motors....basically ditch all the emissions crap.

Either way, it'd still be a 7.3PSD or a gasser for me, unless I could score a low mileage 6.4 REALLY REALLY cheap to play around with.....then maybe.
I don't want ANYTHIING to do with the 12 to 16k repair bills on the 6.7.

Modern gassers .... the new diesel.
Reliable as all heck, minimal maintenance , last 300k miles. Cheaper fuel.

This is my 93 IDI Turbo 5 speed 4x4. 93k Miles. It's my daily since I've sold my LJ. I may sell it after I get the Bronco, but I don't know if I will be able to. I love this dang truck

OBS includes a few generations. I had an '02 on PJ's biggest 15.5" wide Dirt Grips (unfortunately they do not make them anymore), down pipe, exhaust, intake, Turbo upgrade, transmission built up, etc. The best 7.3 came in only one year -- '01. The 7.3 is most likely the most dependable diesel motor to this day. If taken care of will go beyond the million mile mark.

I do love the 95-97s

youd be wrong, we bulletproofed mine, still blewa motor, cracked heads, cracked block, blown two turbos, 4 injectors, hp fuel rails, 2 oil pumps. that 6.0 has been hell on my life for the last 8 years/.

Here was my ‘96 Restore. She was awesome but still succumbed to my always wanting something different/better syndrome.
