Soft Top Roof Rack recommendations?

Derick, I've been watching your product and think it would be a good fit, but couple people I've talked to that own one complain about wind noise on soft top roof/side windows. I know some noise is to be expected with a roof rack, but are there improvements or some kind of deflector in development?

Yes we’re developing a wind deflector (cowling) that will run across the windshield. It will work off the existing rivnuts so no modification required. We’ll keep everyone updated and it’s one of the hurdles with any soft top/roof rack combinations. Thanks.

rucRak, Inc – Get Carried Away

I’m probably leaning towards this idea with a reinforced tailgate. Seems very useful and multi functional without breaking the bank.

I have the RukRack. It’s not perfect, and could use some improvements. But I took it fully loaded from Missouri to Ouray, Colorado with no real issues. Their customer service was quick to reply and replace a couple things I had issues with. Would prefer a roof rack for a roof top tent, but the RukRack is a good alternative.

Just picked up the Hooke Road rack for 400 bucks. A lot of wind noise . But not back for the price. You still cant prop the back up even with this rack,.

I found this one, Raket Roof Racks for the 6G Ford Bronco (raketdesigns.com)

Looks like the front can come off, or you can only install the rear rack and flip back the soft top.

They are crazy pricy. 2000-3000 for a rack seems insane. Is it just a lack of competition in the market?

It’s a lot of design engineering and low volume fabrication. Not going to sell 10’s of thousands of units.

I like the “backtrack” only option. Is this compatible with the Bestop Trektop? I doubt the Trektop could open all the way (don’t really care about that) but just wondering if the mounting part on the sides is compatible with the Trektop mounting hardware back there. Also would like to know how quickly the backrack-only version can be removed/can it be removed without removing the softop?
