Seeing today that I've not had an update in 9 months...I've set auto updates to OFF so they don't brick my horse in the night. But now wondering, how do I get them?

Turn it on, or go to the SW updates screen and I think there is an option to check.
I am the same way, turned that crap off auto update. Everything works the way I need it too, no changes required. :)

Left ours on on all our vehicles, haven't had a single issue - except that when they install, the dash settings sometimes tend to go back to factory. Which is annoying but easily resolved.

Seems like there should be a way to get them without switching to auto update. Maybe there's one that fixes the stupid windows! lol

Having auto-updates on or off makes no difference in terms of how often you will get updates. If you have updates set to off and they send you one, you will get a notification asking for permission to install it like below. The only way to get updates without waiting for the OTA process is by doing them yourself with FDRS.

I keep auto-updates off to avoid having them wipe my tune. When I do get one, if it is for any module other than the PCM, I let it install. If it is a PCM update, I contact my tuner (Livernois) and get an updated tune from them before I let it install so I don't have to drive it without the tune. I know that can be seen as a little extra, but that's what I do.

Thx. I guess I should check the dash screen! I was only looking at the phone app, duh.

In the case of the touchscreen, you won't have to check it. It will pop up every time you start the vehicle. This will happen for 14 days or 30 days (depending on the type of update it is) until you either allow it to install or the OTA trigger expires on Ford's side.

Well, I guess I'm not missing anything, then! Thx.

Updates can be installed via FDRS as well - a pricey way to do it unless you either work at a dealer, know a guy, or talk your dealer into running updates when you go in for regular service.

Not sure if I've mentioned it on this forum or not, but I have 4 Mongoose cables I loan out for free to anyone that needs one. Details are below for anyone interested. Assuming the owner already has a windows based laptop, this would make FDRS very inexpensive for anyone to use.

Turned it off, blocked data transmission, unplugged the fuse, disconnected an antenna or two still running well.
