I like the tall antenna up front...saves my butt on a lifted vehicle as it gives you a heads up as to whether you can make it under something. If it starts to scrape, back up. It has helped me many times in other vehicles.

Show what, the stubbie or the chopped antenna? I never chopped one, a couple guys on the wranglerforum did it. There are some mid length ones available out there that work and look pretty good though.

It comes with an antenna? Hahaha, sweet! Very retro:ROFLMAO:
None of your cars listed are old enough to qualify, but having an antenna used to be considered a sign of wealth. It meant you splurged to get the AM radio option when cars didn't come with a radio standard.

How I missed the days of driving through Seattle listening to Mariners games on 710 AM in the Thunderbird.... Sigh, the loss of AM radio is felt by very, very few people. But it's still a loss.

It's my understanding that typically shark fin antenna's are used for cellular data, GPS, and satellite radio. The Bronco antenna for these purposes is in the roof frame over the cargo area.

The whip antenna on the front right quarter panel is for AM/FM.
Typically the antennae are separated as you said, but a shark fin can be used for AM/FM as well.

I like going with a bigger antenna ...

Firestik on my 4Runner in place of the antenna. I will do the same on the Bronco.

FM tuning frequency and antenna length are RELATED. Antenna being the actual conductor.
The antenna is 1/2 wave tuned, you can replace it with a 1/4 wave loaded & tuned which would be half as long, a full wave would be a whip :) . Reception decreases the shorter you go due to swr mis-match.

That firestick is a base loaded 27MHz antenna, meant for CB but will work for radio.

I was going to buy a splitter to use the one antenna for both but the company, at the time, stopped selling them and I just left it on. Now the look of it has grown on me - even though it only serves as a radio antenna.

Probably look into getting a splitter for the bronco.

None of your cars listed are old enough to qualify, but having an antenna used to be considered a sign of wealth. It meant you splurged to get the AM radio option when cars didn't come with a radio standard.

Driving a New Bronco will show a sign of wealth too, or a sign of some serious Debt ?

I don't mind the longer antenna except, it looks longer than my garage door opening, so hope there is no problem with it getting caught coming in or out.

Losing AM definitely has its highs and lows. Quite frequently actually...
