Still thinking about new rides for next season. Trying to figure out how close to Area 51 this Norco Optic is and if it would look cool or lame to be matchy-matchy. :ROFLMAO:

Threw one on the "late availability" soft top roof rack to see how it looks.

I don't understand roof racks at all, compared to hitch mount. Bikes aren't heavy, mostly, but it still having to get it and control it up above your head, plus risk bashing it on any low hanging branches, bridges, or anything else. Just seems like such a pain compared to a nice low hitch mount carrier.

I'm just not good enough to photoshop onto a hitch rack. Ha.

I agree with you. Roof racks suck. Especially on a tall vehicle like the Bronco. Kills gas mileage. The number of friends that have ran their bike into the garage is quite high as well.

There's no benefit to a roof rack other than access to the rear and pulling a trailer. I use a Seasucker now so I am able to mount it on the back of my vehicle or on the roof. I only put it on the roof when I'm hauling our camper.

I haven‘t seen that front linkage fork before - is it OEM? And is that an enduro or downhill bike?

Rear fender is wild!

That's a Trust Performance Shout fork.

Incredible fork, unfortunately they ceased operations last year at the start of the covid mess. Hoping they'll get back up and running at some point. Would like to get another.

Enduro bike. Yeti SB150: 150mm travel rear, 175mm front

Fenders may not be pretty, but they're a must up here if you want to ride during the monsoon season.

Very interesting! I’m old and started mountain biking when they first came out as a way to cross-train for motocross. I’ve seen a lot of different designs for both front and back linkages, but never anything quite like that. Is the head tube reinforced?

I’m not far from you and I run fenders on my bike during the wet seasons as well. This year I got a fat-tired e-bike which I never thought I’d have so much fun using. Now I vary my rides between my dirt bike, enduro mtn bike, and fat-tired e-bike. Soon I’ll be adding Bronco excursions to the rotation!

The Trust forks are a Dave Weagal design. He's the DW of DW link suspensions like those in Evil, Salsa, Pivot and other full-sus bikes.

No need to reinforce the head tube. It looks way slacked out, but the wheel centerline is in the same place as a traditional telescoping fork would be.

Bikes you say?!?

I got a black 1987 GT Performer Freestyle bike for Christmas when I was 13. I LOVED and lived on that bike for a few years. Fast forward to a couple years ago - GT started making Heritage 26" and 29" BMX Cruiser bikes, and I got hooked. That turned into modifying the bikes from original, cause I can't leave well enough alone. Then I went right to the original source (Craig Turner, son of Gary Turner (GT) and picked up a custom Z-frame, forks, bars, etc. and built a bike from parts up. Which then lead to a GT 2020 Reunion bike frameset, also built by Craig Turner and finished all custom by me. I also picked up a 26" Covid Cruiser frame from S&M, and need to build that up. Then there's a trusty old mountain bike that I use for street exercise. I'm not one of those crazy wheelie guys, just like cruising around for fun and exercise, and it's now a bit of a hobby.

This 29" GT Street Performer stock:

After that one I customized this one for my GF (God rest her soul)

And this 26" I resurrected from being stored in my shed for God knows how long. Broke it completely down to remove all the crud, and only swapped out tires, pedals and grips. I use it when I want to put in several miles around the neighborhood solely for exercise.
