Definitely understandable, what everybody’s time is worth to themselves is different.Agreed, but all I’ve heard is noncommittal after noncommittal answer, so I got sick of playing that game. It was a total time waste and I figured my time is worth more than chasing a dealer. Same as those saying their time is worth more than driving back however many hours from Granger.
The idea that my time has value is true, even when I refuse to chase around the local dealers. It was wasted time and very frustrating.
For me, it took about 10 minutes to work up a standard message with my questions, then about 15 minutes to send that to the 10 nearest dealers through their contact us form. Then just waited for responses, and got responses from half of them within 24 hours. Then a 5 minute phone call to Ford customer service to switch my reservation to the dealer that guaranteed nothing over MSRP, and X-plan if I can. To me, the approximate hour total I spent on it will save me potential thousand depending on how much my initial dealer tries to mark up their Broncos.
I understand it’s not the same everywhere. From what I’ve heard SoCal is bad, hence so many Cali guys going with Granger, or getting in on group buys (I think?). But for me, it worked, and even if it didn’t it was an hour of time I wasted. At the very least, you’ve tried finding a better deal, and you’re not just complaining without trying.
