I’ve been cruising FB marketplace for a TLPv2 (I have a 2DR) but I’m seeing a lot of people say v2 but the photos aren’t matching what I can see on the website. Specifically the ratchet gear - v1 looks to be painted green and is a “C” backwards when looking from the side while the v2 is an unfinished metal C mounted further back on the handle. Are these visual cues accurate or did they change the design after release? Is there an identifying sticker on the unit itself ?

As an example, this listing includes a v2-specific accessory but the lift photos themselves don’t match the v2 gear pics from the website and promo videos: https://www.facebook.com/share/17ubXPTdQo

Im not sure about v2 part but I can say 100% thats not for a 2dr. Ive had a TLP for about 5yrs now from my old Jeep. The top section will not clear the roll cage. I made it work by lifting the top a bit and sliding it back so I could get it underneath. Eventually they made a 2dr version and I ordered a replacement top section. Go to their website and look em up.

I am also in the market for a V2. I believe that is a V1 in that listing. The V1 has two black arms that extend straight out to support the front of the top. The V2 has two green arms that fold out to support the front.

I had a version 1 for a 4DR. When I got a 2DR, I reached out to TopLift. They sold me the parts to convert it for 2DR.

The v1 is discontinued so buying the conversion kit doesn’t seem to be an option on their website but I’ll reach out directly, thanks for that hint. Do you remember the $$$ of the conversion?

They released the v2 in 2024(?) to cover all 2 and 4-doors with one model. I’d just like some clear info on how to identify one from another when searching the (apparently slimy) used market: does anyone have a v2 that can confirm the ratchet gear positioning, for example? Or is there a sticker ?

Part number is BR-2 and cost was $239
I believe it was $250 something shipped but thats been a couple years now I guess.. Whenever they first released the 2dr version.

I'm pretty sure the V2 has the arms inside that swing out above the rollbar. Here's a couple of pictures from their site. The first has the arms folded in (you can see the opening and the strap hanging down to pull it out). The 2nd picture you can see the arms extended forward holding the front of the top (on a Jeep).

This last picture is of the original V1 that does not have the retracting/extending arms.

I was looking at Top Lift Pro and EZ 4x4. I was looking at the TLP on FB Marketplace too and it was frustrating trying to figure out which was which. I ultimately went with a new EZ 4x4 top lifter and door cart. The door cart was the determining factor for me- EZ 4x4 holds the doors by the hinges which I preferred.

I'll link my review of the EZ 4x4 in case you want another option!

Hopefully you find the perfect one for you!

The one you have linked does look like a V2 from the lack of hand crank, I believe that was one of the major differences. I'll link my review of the EZ 4x4 in case you want another option!

I really appreciate the EZ 4x4 review! However I don’t understand the hand crank comment - can you elaborate?

OMG I'm so sorry. The EZ 4x4 has a hand crank. The TLP uses a lever. But the one you're looking at is motorized anyways. Did you get the one from Market Place?

The versions really do look similar. On their website I found a V1 picture and a V2 picture, hope this helps. (I'm going to edit my first comment)

V1 (shown with door lift accessory, the rounded top bar looks very similar to the Market Place one)
