Thank you.... Makes perfect sense and was what I was expecting from a "wax" base but wanted confirmation.

You obviously like the product. I am going to have to check it out. trying to compare this with the amsoil "waxy" version.... I do not live in the midwest so the "oil" does not appeal to me nearly as well. I would probably think a little harder on that "oil" if I lived in the "rust belt".
I live in the rust belt and I have a 30 year old F250 that still looks brand new underneath and all I’ve ever done is rinse it with an open garden hose anytime I get in mud or salt. I’m fortunate to have a garage so I can do that any time of year. Sidenote, if you’re going to apply an under coating, it is very important that the undercarriage is completely dry because if it’s not that under coating can trap water when applied and cause rust. Also, anything that is waxy, sticky, or oily will attract dust and dirt that holds moisture, and can cause future corrosion as well.

I had waxoyl applied to my 2021 two years ago when I took delivery. It has kept surface rust from showing up under the truck for sure. I have done a bit of off-roading though and in places it’s been scraped off.

It’s going in tomorrow for a full refresh. They are pulling skids, power washing everything, drying it in the shop overnight then retreating. Probably overkill, but all kinds of rock salt and brine up here in Buffalo and I plan to keep the Bronco a long time. Need to pull the skids to get coverage as it’s a Badlands and most areas would be blocked There’s silt and clay sitting on top of the skids so this will get that cleared up as well.

My experience is that the product stays tacky. For example I put on high clearance crash bars and just from touching a few things I had a tar-like substance on my hands that I needed to use fast orange to remove. But it’s a thick coating, so short of a rock scrape it’s not coming off.

When you are off roading does stuff get stuck on. I have an event next weekend not too aggressive a 2-3 rating but just wondering how much dirt will get stuck underneath since it is still a bit tacky.

How many days has it been that it is still tacky?

I applied my Waxoyl to the undercarriage yesterday 11/7/23. Went very well. It was only about 50° out and the spray cans worked great. Today I plan on using the wand and spraying inside the cavities. I used ramps on my 2 door Wildtrak and I had full access to everything.

I found this on the Waxoyl site. I guess it will definitely stay tacky. The aerosol cans they send you are the Plus cans.

I have another update on the tackiness of the undercoating. Paraphrasing from an email with the dealer who sells it...

"The wax will tend to be less tacky as time passes. The mineral spirits that are used to propel the wax formulation onto the surface begin to evaporate as soon as they contact metal. Getting some air under the vehicle by driving it aids in the evaporation process and will help it set more quickly."

"The Wax formulation bonds to the surface so that within a week you can go through the car wash, hit it with a hose and even power wash it (don't steam clean it, it is wax and it would melt). Because it is a wax formulation it won't attract or collect dirt. Ever try to get anything to stick to a candle? "

I hope this answers more questions. It did for me.

Just a FYI - Dawn power wash spray is great for cleaning Waxoyl off your hands, etc.

A Jeep friend suggested using a lawn sprinkler. One of the oscillating type. I park out in the front yard and let it run. Just grab the hose and move it every now and then. No squatting or crawling. That truck is mint BTW.

For DYI, check out cosmoline as well. It's probably similar to the Waxoyl hard wax. Cures to a non-sticky wax. Smells like crayons for a week or two. They have black and clear. Clear has a yellowish tint. Coating holds up well to pressurized spray.

On my vehicle, cosmoline on anything steel/iron on the undercarriage. For inside the box rails, tubes, or areas where you want some penetration, I've used 3M cavity wax. There are very long nozzle attachments that can be had to get into those rails.
