I got new tires and wheels (icon rebound pro & MT Baja legend 37x13.50r17) and can feel the strain on steering so revised my plan of stock rack & RC bushings + carry tie rods to hoss 3 rack now that ford allows programming with cal pro tuner. I figure I may still need weld74 stage 1 down the road (some rock crawling (maybe rubicon), snow, sand & ”rustic” camping). Have the tuner, rack is ordered and found a local shop for the install. Question is; do I just bite the bullet and get the weld74 kit installed with the rack or wait til/if problems show up?? What do ya smarter folks think?? Thanks!

I INSTALL THE hos 3.0 first then I wait for 74WELD to improve its product in terms of boots for fitment on stage 1. see Weld 74 Hoss 3.0 Cap and Bushing TOPIC TREAD

Buy once, cry once. And installing a steering rack twice, not fun.

Yeah just a little tight on funds right now after wheels, Tires, tuner & rack…Don’t think rack needs to come out for stage 1 kit??, just tie rods?

Someone posted a thread a week or so ago doing the stage 1 kit without removing the rack. Looked like a bit of PITA but doable.

YOU do'nt have to remove the rack to install the boots or tie rod or 74WELD STAGE 1.

yeah, carry the tools and tie rods but extra steering efforts make me worry about motor and other internals….

Got an email back from Quinn at 74weld…they have a batch of housings with a larger boot mounting flange finishing up next week so I ordered a stage 1 kit with the new housing for the Hoss 3 Rack I have on order…
