I'm getting a base 2dr AMB...soon after I get ...(if it's built)..I'll be dropping it off at the body shop to have the silver wheels and the roof painted black to match...I'm not going nuts over this vehicle...

Your grievance is with Webasto, who is the top manufacturer, and one of the largest and well respected automotive component manufacturers in the world...

It’s almost as if there was some outside or unplanned force affecting their ability to keep to their schedule.

Let's not forget the current plan for Job#1 is May. If the MOD top can't be ready for that I don't believe it is a Covid-related issue. More likely a design flaw requiring extensive change & more testing.

Ford has stated they want to work out assembly line kinks before introducing complexity. My guess would be MOD tops on the line before end of June...which translates to Aug/Sept delivery. If they can't do that, they shouldn't even include MOD tops in the '21 order guide.

At what point does “late availability” become MY22? I’ve always wanted a white top but MY22 seemed so far away so was considering all the options of wraps or paint etc. But since schedule keeps slipping to the right I feel like I might as well just wait for MY22. Hoping they get those kinks worked out for MY21 and typically you’d be able to order a next year vehicle mid year and delivery even before year end... feel like they should all be MY22’s at this rate.

Looks like we have to go to the Candian site to see our build with Black MOD Hardtop. I'm not a IT person, but with todays technology I think this would be a easy fix for the US site.

I know 'once upon a time', the painted black MOD top included painted black mirror caps & grill.

CA site does not appear to show show that configuration at present. Harder to discern on the US site, but I don't think it does either.

MIC is standard on the FE now. Mod top is late availability.

that looks awful. i had a jeep for 13 years and the black plastic looked like that at the end. are they trying to just go there to begin with ? no surprises then. im waiting for the black painted top. the other stuff fades badly. i have seen some that were well cared for that looked pretty good though

but i wont be taking that good of care of it.

I can pretty much guarantee that your top would leak and fade horribly if you're in front of me in the reservation queue.

I don't know much about manufacturing details...but I'd guess the MIC main section is a single piece pressed out by something similar to a waffle iron.

I believe the MOD main section however is made from many component pieces.

Anyone have a clue which will have better water integrity??
