Sounds like a fellow Californian who has to deal with ultra pedantic fire pit requirements. Will check it out too, Anza Borrego only allows fires in metal pits.
Found this mini fire pit at walmart for $40.
Will try is out to see how it works

Not a fan of Ford's 2 piece lugs - after a year or 2 - good luck getting the factory lug wrench to work - they swell and the outer cover needs to be torn off - then the factory wrench will be too big for the remaining nut underneath - horrible design.
I've owned nothing but Fords and in my climate, never had that issue! Not a fan of Ford's 2 piece lugs - after a year or 2 - good luck getting the factory lug wrench to work - they swell and the outer cover needs to be torn off - then the factory wrench will be too big for the remaining nut underneath - horrible design.
Happened twice on my Fusion - it's a known issue - there was even a class action suit brought against them for it - wouldn't be so bad if they covered it under warranty - but they claimed it was normal wear and tear - not sure how making the lugnuts inoperable is normal but that's why I swapped mine out to one piece units.I've owned nothing but Fords and in my climate, never had that issue!
2nd terrible design.
