I keep reading about how bad the tires can be with throwing rocks on the doors, and how mud/rocks can quickly accumulate on the fender flares which is then scraped off by the rear door when you open it.

Looking for peoples opinions on the best mudflaps that are currently on the market to prevent most of the problem?

Unless you spring for the uber expensive ($300-$400 a pair) flaps, or go generic auto parts store on the front mudflaps, you will have to do some modifications.

Some members used the $49 OEM flaps and cut recesses for the rock rails. Myself and one other trimmed our rock rails to use the OEM flaps up front.

Also note on the broncos with metal rear bumper, the contour does not match the OEM flaps either, hence me using the Yosemite sam ones for a laugh.

Thanks, I saw those, but they won’t work with the rock sliders, and I know that I’ll butcher them if I try to carve out holes for the sliders to slip through. As much as I hate myself, I think I’ll just spend an unbelievable amount of money on the gatorbacks. Sigh… my dad would kick my ass if he knew how much I am about to spend on 4 mudflaps…

My concern with the cupped design of the Ford flaps comes from experience. My Tahoe had that style and after a heavy and wet snow, they held the slush, mud, and gravel until it built up between the tires and the flaps- and broke them off. I now prefer flat and pliable cheap-os. I love those Yosemite Sam flaps!!

I'm waiting for someone (maybe even Ford) to just come out with a replacement front flare that has a little more bottom coverage. 🤷
