What is the Image?

All of us have in our minds (whether we realize it or not) an image of how we will use our Broncos. It’s usually specific. A flash. An image that starts the serotonin flowing deep within our endocrine system. And again, it’s the true source of the intangible reasons we are interested the Bronco and so much more.

I’ll go first.

I’m driving in an absolute blizzard up a BLM trail pulling my little off-road trailer. Next to me is my nine year old son and In the back our dog, Murphy.

We are laughing and talking about how cold the water is going to be fly fishing. The Bronco is performing well getting us there and I trust it in the way good equipment is supposed to make you feel.

Mine is hitting up trails in CO on one of our regular trips to the state. Riding shotgun is the wife and in the back seat our daughter. Our dog does not travel well in cars so he is at "camp" as we call it when we kennel him. His name is Murphy as well...great dog just gets excited and pukes if the ride is more than 10-15min.

Call me a pavement dweller but I currently live in a city with pretty tame trails on the outskirts... even when I lived in PHX my favorite thing was the following.

Riding around town with the top off, feeling the sun on my face, wind in my hair and having my favorite songs blasting. Once in a while that perfect song comes on and you can feel the bass in the back kicking and everything just feels right in the world.

My dream vehicle would be an Olive Green 1978 FJ40 that looks totally bone stock on the interior and exterior but has a 2.8 Cummins with a five speed, AC, Power disc brakes and power steering.

Cons=$70K Plus and Not total dependable.

Bronco Base with 2.7 with Auto.


Pro: $33500 and dependable

I love the old FJ40s. Great vehicles and have a lot of memories in them. But, reread the original post.

Many come to mind, but this is the first...

Nice fall day getting up early. My son and I go out and take the top and doors off. My wife and daughter are gathering up all the riding gear and putting it in the back. Yeti full of ice, lunch meat and Gatorade. We hook up the trailer and load the bikes. We are off to the motocross track for a day of excitement. A family that rides together, stays together.

I love the occasional unplanned bivy. As long as I have planned for it. ?
I’m getting a little long in the tooth for survival courses in the Alps etc

Roof off, doors off, crawling the best malls in Central Texas... parking incorrectly so that I occupy 2 spots and the cars next to me just roll their eyes ?

Kidding. Actually we love South Padre, and I keep imagining my wife and I just driving down the Padre Shore, getting a little loose in the sand, Bronco doing its thing, our dog in the back just loving the open air, finding a good spot to chill and just enjoy a good day at the beach. Bonfire in the evening, laughing and reminiscing.
