I’m likely going to swap the Goodyears on my BB Sasquatch to Ridge Grapplers. I know they have the same 315/70s, but I was looking at the 35s. They show a 11.50 and a 12.50. Stock wheel width is at the low end of the listed width for the 12.50s. Would either of them cause any rubbing issues or anything? Pros cons of each? I did try and search but I’m new here and still trying to refine my search skills on this platform. lol

315/70R17 is roughly equivalent to 35x12.50R17. The exact size depends on the tire manufacturer, but generally speaking there is about 1/3" to 1/2" difference between the two, and both are considered to be "35s".

Edit— For reference...
  • 35x12.50R17 ≈ 315/70R17
  • 35x11.50R17 ≈ 290/75R17 (rare size)

Don't get me started on 315/70R17 not being 35's...

Manufacturer specs are never anywhere even close to advertised when the tries are mounted and under load.

After the tires are mounted and under load a 315/70R17 will be about 33 1/4" and 35x11.5R17 comes in at about 34 1/4". Yes there will be minor differences across brands but a 315 is nowhere near even close to a 35" IMO..

I have 35x11.5R17 Falken Wildpeak AT4W on my Badlands 2dr on 17x8 wheels and I had to remove the front and rear crash bars.

Oh yeah there is a big variance between tire manufacturers, and sometimes different tires within the same manufacturer are different.

Heck usually "36s" are closer to 35-inch in diameter than "35s". Tire sizes are silly.

I don’t have front crash bars. Not sure about rear. Could you post a pic from the front? Just wanna see how wide the tires look

I have 1.75" Bora Wheel Spacers on mine to add additional poke. I am pretty sure I was getting rubbing w/o them..

I also have DV8 Fender flares on mine. These are a little wider than stock Badlands flares but narrower than the Sas Flares. I'd say the DV8 flares are in-between Badlands flares and Sas flares, width wise.

Here are a few images with the DV8 flares:

You should not have rubbing with any of those options (Sasquatch does not have crash bars)…the 11.50 is about an inch narrower and 10lbs lighter than the others with the 12.50 being slightly wider & taller than the 315…I am in the wider & taller is better camp but there are some folks who like narrow tires and/or care a lot about weight…in the end it is up to you…there are tons of tire choices out there and everyone has an opinion but few have much real knowledge…good luck

so no issues with the 12.50 on a stock Sasquatch wheel?

315/70 ~ load E @ 34.4x12.72” @ 70.8lbs

35x11.5 ~ load E @ 34.76x11.42” @ 66.3lbs

35x12.5 ~ load E @ 34.76x12.52” @ 75.52lbs

All three will fit, are load range E and are approximately 34.5” tall - the only real discrepancy is the weight, the 35x11.5 only weighs 66.3lbs, that’s a significant difference.

If you are okay with or even prefer a more narrow tire, seems like an easy bit of math?…

12.5” width tire fits 8.5” wheel. Look up your tire specs.
See RIM Sizes:

https://www.mickeythompsontires.com/light-truck-tires/baja-boss-a-t

In the Mickey pages, find 17”, expand it. I’m looking at purchasing the 35x12.5/17 Baja Boss A/T with a D load rating with a tire weight of 69 lbs/tire. The stock Territory tires are load rating of C at a weight of 52 lbs/tire. I don’t think I need a load rating of E which brings the tire weight up to 71 lbs.

You should have no issues with fitting a 35 on a Sasquatch wheel. If you get a high load range tire, maybe, maybe, you'll get some uneven edge wear.
I when it's warm, and tire pressures are higher, I can see where the shoulders on my 315's (on stock BL wheel) don't contact the road. But I have an E load tire, to be expected.

I think tire width is preference. Some say pizza cutters are better for wheeling. I would assume a 12.5 floats better in soft terrain. Weight is also something to consider, but the 4.7 gears shouldn't have a problem moving big meats.

Yeah I saw that, and mentioned it in the first post. It’s just at the very minimum so I was curious if anyone had ever had any issues
