Whats the deal with all the electrical tape on engine harness?

What’s the deal with all the electrical tape and loose small pieces of tape on the 2.7 engine’s wiring harness? Doesn’t look like that on my ‘17 F150. Hell, even the wiring on my ‘05 Wrangler is holding up better than this Bronco that was built 11/21.

And my wife’s comment about the wiring exiting the rear door running to the spare tire was “Is this honestly the best thing Ford could come up with on a $55k vehicle?”

C'mon Ford do the right thing and take it up a notch or two against your competitors.

What's wrong with electrical tape? It's used by electricians everywhere.

I don't have issues with electrical tape in general, it's just odd that majority of the wiring is wrapped in tesa tape or in braided wire loom and then there is this area that has split loom wrapped in electrical tape that's pealing off after 1.5 months. Then the tailgate area has the tesa tape, transitions to electrical tape with a zip tie around the electrical tape to keep it secure.

By no means is this a reason for me to take it to the dealership as I'll fix these areas myself.

Don't get me started on how I can't use the driver-side visor to block the sun without it hitting the rearview mirror and not being able to flip it forward further

Don't disagree with you OP. Thought same thing. Not end of world and certainly dont have issue with some electrical tape, but there's a better way. You'd think if your job was to roll electrical tape all day you'd get good at tightening it up. It's sloppy.

They use it all the time, but, it looks like a 1st grader wrapped those wires.
You don’t see that kind of work under this hood.

That is true, but they aren't improvising, this is what Ford asked for.
