I have Rexgen trophy sport on the bronco. They are flexible enough and when I've had the bronco tucked enough to smash them between a rock and the slider, the material slides pretty well. They show some scrape wear on the tire side of the flap but body side still looks nice with no tears or cracks.

The wife's Jeep has the Rokblokz and they just come off when I pull the sway bar disconnects. I would say the Rokblokz are definitely a more stiff material.

All of these look like what would work for what you described

Those are for water spray...
Have you seen the mesh rubber ones on trucks? I wonder if I could make up my own hybrid flaps 🤷

I made a set of mud flaps for the front out of old floor mats, they are flexible and keep crud off the side pretty well. I used the holes for the fender flares for screw holes. Get creative worst case if you don't like them take them off start over, good luck!

Is it just me, or shouldn't an offroad vehicle have super-flappy, flexible mudlfaps?
All I see available are semi-rigid plastic flaps that would no doubt snap and break while passing over large rocks, etc.

I envision something closer to a transport truck flap (smaller of course)

Is there nothing?
A friendly suggestion: Please do a search on a subject before starting a thread. There are several fairly recent threads on this. mudflaps (and roofracks and tents) are among the most commonly discussed subjects.

That said, I have the RokBlokz, which can be detached for trail use. The'yre fairly flexible. I've taken them on medium-rated trails and found there's a fair bit of give when coming off rocks and small ledges--but I've done that only going forward. They might not be so forgiving if one has to reverse. They're a little pricey, but I think I got what I paid for.
And as a one-time Class A trucker, I like good, large flaps for the highway, in performance and looks.

You can DIY these generic ones on Amazon:

Resilient, floppy, and CHEAP! Just rubber and fiber in the general shape of a mudflap.

I grabbed a couple feet of flat metal rod from the hw store, covered it in heavy duty black rattle can paint, and used that to extend from the front crash bar. With the mudflaps attached to that, and one screw into the flare.

My last Bronco had a prototype set of these (diff manufacturer).
I liked them...but too easy to snap.
Hold up now….who was the manufacturer of the prototypes you had?
