Was wondering why my 2.3L, 2 door, Squatched Badlands was showing 21MPG on the window sticker when all the equivalent others I've seen showed 18MPG.

Of course in Canada, we go by L/100km for our mileage... In my case, 13.6L/100km and showing the conversion at 21MPG.

It just hit me, that a Canadian gallon is (or used to be) an Imperial measurement (as it also is in the UK), not an American measurement.

The Imperial gallon is bigger...

Now you know 🤷🏻

This is an amazing tidbit of trivia.

I am now wondering whether the people who complain about the U.S. and our "gas guzzlers" use the false comparison in their arguments. I will keep my eyes out for that one. 🤔

Don't know man, I'm just reading the number on the dash. Without remote start it's probably idling longer than it would otherwise. That's likely worsening my indicated fuel consumption.
Ah, never trust the number on the dash, I've always found them optimistic...

My fuelly sig is calculated from real stats, not the onboard computer, but even my dash says I'm averaging something like 13.8l/100km, I think.

I was all about Fuelly with my diesel truck and Passat TDI. When we sold all of those and purchased my Raptor I said no more. Fuel economy just doesn’t matter in the scheme of things. I know I’m buying a truck that gets shitty MPG, I think my badlands manual is the worst of the bunch.

I am assuming my Sasquatched Badlands will still be better than my 5.7L HEMI Jeep Grand Cherokee… we shall see…

So, should Canadian fuel economy be called kilometerage?

Enquiring minds want to know...

Don’t tell anyone, but our Bronco’s run off maple syrup. That’s why we get such great mileage.

Wifely one is English by birth so we make the occasional trip to the UK. We rent something with the usual smallish diesel and find even with the corrected mileage those cars do a lot better than ours. The Mondeo, basically a Fusion with a hatchback which made it more usefull, gave us 44 mpg, the Audi A3 with the 1.8 TDI did 70 and even the equivalent of the Tucson gave us 35 mpg. Our EPA hates diesels, so we will never get a TDI Bronco.
But when you pay $8-$9 a gallon you need all the mileage you can get!

I am getting 17.9 average in my 2.7 liter SAS, but I turn off the silly auto start/stop. My spouse has the same model and engine, she is getting 18.3...but she drives like miss daisy. It's not as good as the 22 I was getting in my F150 with the 3.5L engine but it is much easier to maneuver on the back roads.
