My 2024 OBX has a charging pad in the front of the console that works just fine. I just lay my phone there; I use Android Auto while driving, so I never need to touch the phone itself.

99%.of Beonco deivers are doing $BN deals all the time but dont have PAs to process their calls and messages, dont wanna miss the deals so need the device on lone of sight haha.I've been curious about this. I am about to get my bronco tomorrow, so asking with zero experience with this rig right now.
Why are folks getting phone mounts for their vehicle?
Seems like for street driving, Google play/apple play is fine
For off roading, I can see using camera views and a having a phone mount with onx, gaia, or whatever your favorite navigation app is.
I get mounting cameras, radio holders, etc. just the phone mount seemed niche, yet I see ads and picture of dash boards with them constantly.
Am I missing something? Is there another use case besides what I mentioned where the onboard system doesn't cut it?
Sounds like onX can be used on the center screen from your phone now, which is a nice feature. And it's free for a year if you sign up with your FordPass credentials.I've been curious about this. I am about to get my bronco tomorrow, so asking with zero experience with this rig right now.

I installed and wired the Aigmux to my dash, and so far its doing a halfway decent job. I took the magnet ring off of my Scosche mount and that holds the phone pretty securely even over the whoops in my UAG case. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, although I think I need to add some locktite to the threads on the arm to keep it from spinning on me and ending up out of position, but even then it only turns a few degrees and is still out of the way.I'd like a dash mount that does these four things. Holds the phone securely, doesn't require me to give up the case my phone is in, doesn't require me to plug it into a cable ie. has MagSafe or holds Apple's, and looks good, not like an after thought. Aigmux comes closest, but they still don't get it. @AIGMUX
I think it wiser to secure the phone and the carry firearm. Even a minor accident or rough/erratic/emergency driving will send those 2 crucial items flying around the vehicle and out of your reach in a moment when you may need them most..I don't have a need for one. Heck my Glock .40 and my phone both fit in the center cubby under the HVAC controls when I'm driving down the road.
Get one of the ones that attaches on the hand hold near the window, so you have a story to tell your grandkids about that pothole on Main Street that ate your phone that one time you rolled down the winder to wave at the fellas.![]()
Anybody willing to pay shipping, I might know a guy with one with the "nifty" magnet version that'll totally hold a phone no problem. He, uh, hasn't used it but did take it out of the box before, y'know, realizing he wasted his hard earned money.
I seriously don't get those mounts at all. Why would anyone intentionally hang their phone anywhere near the window?
Last summer we were on vacation and some guy was driving down the road in his jeep with one of those phone mounts. He turned right, his phone turned left and flew out the window. My wife picked it up and he stopped and came back for it. I don't know which brand he had, but he was definitely not happy about his freshly cracked phone and waste-of-money phone mount.
