I agree. Test drove a 2.3L auto w/ sas and it was just OK. Anyone saying you aren’t missing anything off the 2.7L is kidding themselves.

I’m perfectly happy with the 2.3. Don’t drive many miles, don’t beat the snot out of it and I don’t have phaser issues or a submerged rubber oil pump belt along with more parts and pieces.
For those that say the 2.3 works harder. Does it really? My guess is people with the V6 stomp on it more. Working it just as hard. It’s still using same if not more gas, diluting the oil. And there is a turbo on each bank adding stress. I’m not knocking the V6 as I would probably like it. I’m just not at all disappointed with the 2.3 on 93.

The trend is going smaller engines… I doubt the 2.3 will get dropped anytime soon. I had an Expedition for a week as a loaner, and the 3.5l 400hp is awesome, but the 10 speed automatic transmission made it less exciting than my 2.3l ProCal tuned with manual. Im so happy I didn’t get auto.
