Part of the reason why your Bronco might feel "slow" is due to transmission programing/Torque mitigation to help with drivability/reliability.
This was an issue on the AWD 3.5L Ecoboosts-they produced alot more torque than the 6F/AWD system could handle, so they took timing out of them to keep them from grenading the drive train. Tunes for the SHO and other 3.5L Ecoboost FWD/AWD products lessened this and improved performance.
I drive between 0-55 MPH commuting to work and I have no issues with the 2.7L being powerful enough to over take another car (well most cars) at a stop light if I need to. Its not fast off the line like my SHO was, but I don't find the power levels lacking at all.
I'm guessing some of you have never driven an automatic transmission car from the 1980s that had 20+ second 1/4 mile times.
