For what it's worth, a couple times a year, I tow my dad's boat from his vacation home in Bullhead City, AZ to Katherine Landing at Lave Mohave - about a 5 mile drive that's mostly flat. It's a 21-footer and I have no idea how much it weighs, lol. In any case, the Bronco does GREAT and you'd barely know the thing is back there.

But, yeah, travelling any long distance, especially over mountains, seems like it might be a bit sketchy.

Oh really? Interesting. Wonder how common that is.

In my area (southern Connecticut), it's some sort of hydraulic system. Either surge brakes or electric-over-hydraulic... I don't think I've seen any purely electric brake system on a boat trailer... but then again... I'm not usually staring on boat trailers all day long.
Well at least you admit you don't know what you are talking about, but still tell folks they are wrong.

With a 2700# payload Ford approves a max 800# trailer. Anything more and you are in warranty jeopardy.

And at 3500# most states would not require brakes but plan your route.

Or rent a truck from uhaul
