Deep in debt with a medical degree, while not uncommon, is no impediment to a doctor borrowing even more in their own name. And sure, the price of wiping that jeep off your lap is less than a year of med school, if he is given everything in life with no skin off his teeth (also regional) he will want to spend every Wednesday afternoon with the local banker (anyone else remember bankers' hours which meant closed Wed afternoon in lieu of golf course)

If you can afford to give your son a Wrangler as a graduation present you can probably still afford your 2033 Bronco when it is built in 2025

You should be proud. That is quite an accomplishment. Go with your original plan and give him the Bronco. If it’s not there at graduation then he can wait. It will be worth it.

just lamenting the fact that if I want to give him the vehicle at graduation I may have to take the jk. No way of knowing if the bronco will be ready.

You're buying him a JL, not a JK and there's nothing wrong with that. If you just ordered the Bronco a few months ago, it's not going to make it for graduation.

I have a 23 year son that graduated last May who now drives my Wrangler after I got my Bronco and a 19 year old son who is pre-med in college. I can tell you that both of them would pick waiting for a Bronco over the Jeep.

Honestly MSRP for a jeep is overpriced. There are plenty of dealers where you can get significant discounts on a Wrangler.

All the Wrangler haters can just hate. The reality of it is they can be damn good vehicles. The only thing Ford was supposed to have on the Wrangler was price and quality... And we know what happened at the second choice.

But yeah, I wouldn't buy a Wrangler anywhere close to MSRP. If you join tread lightly, and do some searching, you'll find dealers that will sell you a Wrangler at invoice or under. It wasn't that long ago the getting 7% under invoice was common.
