Ford Bronco Baja Designs Reflex Light Actuator OUT NOW!! blog-reflex-actuator_new-2-940x530

Reflex Light Actuator: Complete Light Control at Your Fingertips
Introducing the Reflex Light Actuator (Patent Pending) – the first fully compatible actuator system designed exclusively for the Baja Designs light lineup. Born from racing in Baja, the Reflex brings professional race-level engineering to a consumer-ready solution. Engineered exclusively for our lights, the Reflex delivers instant, on-the-fly control of light pitch angle. This is the first fully integrated actuator system designed exclusively for the entire Baja Designs light lineup. It’s race-level technology, engineered into a bolt-on solution that anyone can install and use.

Born in Baja
In desert racing, race trucks run 125-gallon fuel cells that burn off hundreds of pounds of fuel over 1,000 miles, progressively lightening the rear end and changing the vehicle’s pitch. Combined with constantly shifting terrain – climbs, straights, blind crests – drivers need instant beam angle adjustment. Fixed angles don’t work. Stopping isn’t an option. Race teams solved this with actuators, but these required custom fabrication and were not cheap – they were out of reach for everyone else. So we thought, why not make a consumer-level light actuator that bolts directly to a Baja Designs light? And that is exactly what we did. Best of all, the Reflex Actuator is compatible with the LP Series, XL Series, S8, and OnX6+ light bars.

Why Add Light Actuators to Your Setup?
1. Gain Control over your Lights –
Instead of settling for a fixed light angle, actuators let you adapt instantly—aim high for open terrain or lower the beam for fog, dust, and close-range obstacles.
2. Improve Light Efficiency – Proper beam placement reduces glare, prevents wasted output, and ensures maximum penetration where you need it most.
3. Increase Versatility – From rock crawling to high-speed desert driving, actuators make your lighting system perform better in every scenario.

Aim Your Lights Exactly Where You Need It
The Reflex gives you complete control without leaving the driver’s seat. Previously, achieving this meant either stopping to manually adjust your lights or investing in custom actuator setups that required fabrication work. Neither option was practical for most drivers. Climbing a steep hill? Adjust your beam upward. Descending or running high-speed sections? Bring it down. Towing a loaded trailer that’s squatting your rear suspension? Adjust your light instantly. Aim your light exactly where you need it. We engineered the Reflex to eliminate that barrier entirely.

Purpose-Built Integration
What makes the Reflex different is that it’s designed exclusively for Baja Designs lights. The result is a true bolt-on installation using included custom hardware. No fabrication required. No modification of existing brackets. The system mounts directly to your Baja Designs light brackets and integrates seamlessly with the harness available.

Specific Wiring Harnesses for Control
You choose how you want to control the Reflex Light Actuator. Harnesses are sold separately to provide flexibility for customers’ existing lighting setups. With two styles of wiring harnesses to select from provides flexibility to control your lights how you want. Wiring harnesses for control via momentary switch or power control modules (sPOD, SwitchPros, and others), take control of your lights at the push of a button.

Control Multiple Actuators at Once
Need the ability to control multiple actuators at once on your lighting setup? The Reflex Actuator linking harness can be used to power multiple actuators using one switch. For example, to actuate a 4-light LP9 bumper setup with a momentary switch and one actuator per light: (1x) Momentary or rocker single lead actuator harness and (1x) 4XL Linkable Harness. *Note: Actuators are not compatible with XL Linkable light bars. XL Linkable Harnesses are power-only between individual light actuators.

Built for Real-World Application
The Reflex Light Actuator is designed for any off-road platform. Whether you’re building a dedicated prerunner, weekend trail rig, outfitting a daily driver, or overland rig, the Reflex delivers the same level of performance and reliability.
Light actuators were previously reserved for professional racing applications and custom builds. We’ve engineered it into a consumer-ready solution that any driver can install and benefit from immediately. This is only adding to our goal to make lights that not only give you a competitive edge in racing but can be reliable enough to get you home safely.

Race-Proven Engineering
Every Baja Designs product carries our commitment to performance, innovation, and reliability. The Reflex Light Actuator embodies our “Scientists of Lighting” approach – rigorous engineering, extensive testing, and real-world validation before launch.
The Reflex Light Actuator introduces a new segment in performance lighting: accessible, integrated actuator control. We’re creating a purpose-built system that makes advanced light control available to anyone who wants it.

Just when I thought lights were past the point of innovation with each new SEMA show just giving us different versions of the same thing… ya went and proved me wrong.
Do most people need this? No. Will a lot of people still want it? Yes.

Will some people need it and want it? Yes.
True innovation yet again. Good job.

it’s always nice to have options for those that may need it.

That's a great idea. Having control of the light angle can be crucial.

We just added these to our site earlier today.

Question... how is it powered? I see a 2-pin WP connector. Is that it? Positive and negative? Send positive voltage on pin 1/ground on pin 2 and it goes one way. Ground on pin 1/positive voltage on pin 2 and it goes the opposite way?

Looks like it. The harnesses they have on the BD web page show either 3-wire (rocker) or two sets of 2-wire (two-switch), but just 2 wires to the actuator itself. And DC motors reverse just by swapping polarity, so that checks.

I'm sure you'll have an awesome custom Bronco-specific harness for us shortly though!

On the design - looks slick, thoughtful that they put the linkage in a boot

What is going on with the really thin gauge wires poking out the top though? Should have wrapped that or shrouded it or something. I doubt a tree branch or anything would snag it, it just makes an otherwise nice product look kind of cheap. They took the time to sleeve the linkage but not the wiring.

Maybe it isn't that bad in person.

Sooo that’s the thing… we DO have a harness already but the issue would be reversing the polarity from a bronco upfitter for example as we can’t use the vehicle ground and switch panels (spod and similar) all have common grounds - sooo they say this works with switch systems and I’m guessing their harness they sell switches the polarity for you is how it does it - which means then our harness can’t work

How does this work in terms of adjusting if you are using (sPOD, SwitchPros, Acumen Legend Switch Box)?

Can you guys find a way to make this work with my 6 LP4 linked setup on the front bumper that I got from you :)

OOOF. I mean there is probably a way but that's a lot of weight for this thing to handle. They don't support the XL Linkables so im sure it won't work with our LP4 linkable kit

So looking at the instructions... Baja Designs has a wiring harness for upfitter use that has built in relays

https://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-reflex-light-actuator-harness-power-management-single/

"Power Management" is a fancy word for "Upfitters" or "OEM Switches"

Basically you get 3 leads. One ground and a positive lead for each function (up/down).

NOW. Im curious what would happen if you activate power to BOTH. I guess it would cancel each other out but will it TRY and power up and down at the same time and possibly mess up the motor?

Honestly, this actuator is probably best with a momentary switch over an upfitter so calling it a harness for "Power Management" actually makes better sense as you can program most switch panels for momentary control.

Great, let me know when you will have these in stock. I want 2 actuators for my LP4s and whichever wiring harness to control them both off the momentary switch (both lp4 move the same, not independently). Assuming I can leave the actual light wiring alone and don't need to change that out.
