If the tread width was 10+" then I wouldn't be here "complaining" lol. And measuring other 315/70R17 tires show that they all reach over a 34" diameter when standing under their own weight. Again I understand how tires work just posting this so others who contemplate running this tire understands how it matches up to other tires of the same size. I research tires hard before deciding which ones to run, and there was very little information of this specific tire. The Original Wrangler Territory AT that comes on the TRX's are true to their 325/65R18 size...

and when jeep says the extreme recon package comes with 35s and in reality it is not 35s?

Damn JEEP!

I’m fine with it but in OP’s defense, while we have known that they’re not true 35”s for quite a while… that doesn’t change the fact that Ford proudly totes “35 inch tires available on all trims”. Rounding up from 34.365” to 35” is quite generous lol

Man y'all seem worse than those on Jeep Forums haha. I am not complaining, just stating what I have found. I am not going to run these tires because I was searching for a larger contact pattern and height than my current tires, as a 315 is advertised over a 285.. ; and yes I know how tire sizes work as I have been doing it for 15 years between Jeeps and Trucks. When you advertise that the tire is the same size as a Raptor, when it clearly is not, then why do so? Ford literally puts "35" tire" everywhere when selecting the packages and tire size. This is truly nowhere near the advertised 315/70 size and might be the smallest size specific tire I have witnessed.
I don't think anyone was trying to attack you or anything.

They're just pointing out that it is fairly common knowledge that a 315/70r17 tire is colloquially referred to as a 35" tire despite it not being a true 35" tire. Just like a 265/70r17 is known as a 32" tire despite it actually being 31.6", and a 285/70r17 Is known as a 33" tire despite it actually being 32.7", etc. etc. And that doesn't even account for normal manufacturing variability.

Same thing with the electric power in our homes. We often find documentation that the power in our homes in North America are 110/220, or 115/230, or 120/240 volts, etc. etc.. The actual specification is 120/240 volts ± 6% at the meter which corresponds to (roughly) 117/234 volts at household outlets.

And guess what?? A 2x4 piece of wood isn't actually 2" x 4"

I was also appalled that the 2x4 I bought from Home Depot actually measured 1.5" x 3.5"

Shame on Home Depot

Measure that tire, as well as the tire on the Raptors, they are much more true to spec for a 315/70R17. Or even just look at the picture I posted of measuring a legit Raptor spec'd tire from the factory. The tread width is 2" wider, as is nearly every other 315 I have measure since getting my hands on the MTs.

Last 2 Sets of Duratracs I have failed me on the trails. Tread pattern is phenomenal but the sidewalls are way to weak.

Ford Bronco Are your Goodyear Territory MT 315/70R17 Tires Really 35's? tire sizes

Funny enough, a 285/65 20 is taller than a 315/70 17. This is due to the wheel diameter.

Width is not just the tread width, but overall width including sidewall bulge on a stated wheel width.

The GY Territory are a very light C load range tire, and quite easy to push down on to deflect. At least lay them down to measure, but measuring without being mounted and inflated is still wrong. The tires measuring over 34" when standing under their own weight, are likely stiffer load range D or E.

All the data was right there:

I haven’t taken a tape to them, but it doesn’t take more than a glance to notice they are the smallest “35s” I’ve ever owned. Buddy at work put Toyo MTs on his squatch wheels, they are very noticeably taller and wider.

hahaha I don't think OP was saying that only Ford fudges the truth, he was just saying Ford fudges the truth... Which both Ford and Jeep are doing. It seems like more than a few people on this thread are happy to pay for a 35" tire and get less than that (including me) but we don't have to pretend that we're glad it isn't a 35" do we? lol

Run Toyos .. they are bullet proof BUT there is a price .. they weight 80 pounds each.

duratracs (D loaded) are 62 pounds each.
