Looks awesome. That’s next on my list after swapping my top for the Bestop soft top I have here waiting for consistent nicer weather.

I switched to Falken Wildpeaks 275/65/18 -SL rated. Another non-E rated tire for consideration.

stock is 255/70R18 right? 275/65R18 is so close size wise to that. Do you have a straight on side shot?

Correct on the stock size. These are very close to the same height. No speedometer recalibration was needed. I can take a pic from the side tomorrow.

Hi all

After seeing a few others powdercoat their OBX wheels, I decided to follow along. The PC guys calls this Matte Black. It isn't really flat or matte...it just is NOT glossy. It has a smooth finish. Cost was $125 per wheel.

I went with BFG KO's in 255/70r18 which is the stock OBX size. These were available in a "D" rated tire. I was avoiding the taller "E" tire as did not want to change the highway characteristics too much. There is zero difference in ride quality from the stock Bridgstone Duellers. Very happy with the setup and how it turned out!

Thats a very nice look on the OBX, amazing that the same size tires in the KO2 look bigger. Your conundrum on the 18" E tires has had me thinking for months as well. The only way around that I know of is to use 17x8 rims (like stock Badlands) and then there are many selections of C or D rated tires in 265, 275, or 285/70R17 tires that will fit on the stock OBX.

Isn't the price a bit high ? You can get some OK rims for that..

Well done. I personally was not a fan of the obx wheels and the PC with those tires look great.

Can someone explain the advantage of powdercoating the wheels versus painting them?

(assume both were done with proper stripping and prep first)

Mine are getting done right now. I chose glossy. Wish I'd seen yours first, they look amazing. Now I'm questioning my choice :p
Please post a photo as i was thinking about doing mine gloss black.

I've been thinking about powder coating my Badlands wheels in black once my Bronco arrives. Good to see that the Outer Banks wheels look really nice with this treatment, since they're so similar to the Badlands wheels (especially when you look through the two-tone on the OB wheels). Has anyone actually powder coated the base BL wheels here?
