Wow! Super helpful, thanks! My order is for a 2.3. I was considering upgrading to the 4.27 but I've just learned that I'll lose my price protection if I do that, so I'm less inclined if I can still run 305's. I don't do any hard core off-roading.

Again thanks, that was amazingly thorough and concise all that same time.
No worries, you will probably be plenty happy with the 2.3 and maybe even consider a 33-34" tire, especially if you are going for a look.

There are now several Broncos at work. Here is my stock obx suspension 33.5" Bronco vs a stock OBX Bronco. It doesn't take much to butch up the Bronco!

That's just rims and tires!

Now, let's keep the same rims and tires and add a 0.6" lift

I ran 35s with 3.73, nothing to fear but you can tell your running a bigger tire. Absolutely no issues offroad or around town. High speed with a head wind and you will have to downshift in manual mode.

I wouldn't run a bigger tire than a 35 and like most have stated narrow 33s are a good option if you want to keep some power and have better mpg.

Thank you yes I wanted to do pizza cutters and yes it seems e2 & 33 are the most available. Just trying to find something more narrow than 10" is difficult.

So a 33 installed with 2.3 and the 10 speed - highway at 80mph will be ok??

Although I have the 2.7, I am running 33.5" tires at 80 mph without issue (295/70R17) with 4.27 and have no problem accelerating briskly to 100 mph. The gearing and power are there to run 80 mph on 33's all day long even with the 2.3

The only downside you'll see really is MPG. 3.73 and 35s would be in boost a ton in 10th gear at highways speeds. I have 33s, 3.73and 2 inch lift and its as big as I'd go to keep my MPG above 17.5 consistently. I just do a lot of highway driving. If I was doing in town driving or it was not a daily I'd do the 35s no doubt. I plan on having a set of 35s on steelies here soon to use as trail wheels only lol

Which engine? I have 33s on my OBX w 3.73 & 2.7… I easily get 18.5 mpg city (higher if I want to, I dont drive timidly)… and can average 24.5 on the highway/roadtrips while being eco-conscious. I don’t have a lift though.

I ran that combo on my JKU. I agree with what you said and would add that at highway speeds it would always hunt for gears and constantly be downshifting at the slightest incline. Not sure if the 10spd would make that better or worse.

ok so I am clear - you have 2.3, 3.73 and 33s + 2 inch lift - (exactally where I was going)
10 speed auto?

* Around town no problem
* Highway cruising at 70-80 - What does it feel like?
Does it get into 10th gear ?
Thanks!!

Not true about the price protection. Look around at some of the threads regarding 2023 ordering and follow the link to Ford Q&A. It covers the general rules for price protection. People are putting out a LOT of bad information about it. Go to the source.

I'm just relaying what my dealer told me. He said I'm essentially chaining trim lines by going 4.27. If that's not the case then I'd love to know. I'll look through the Q&A and quote it here if I can find anything on it.

BlueBronco just put out a comprehensive guide to 2023 ordering that has links to everything. I believe your dealer doesn't know what he is talking about. Neither did mine. I had to tell him about the Ford Q&A.

Correct that's the setup. It feels fine at those speeds. It does go into 10th however leaving it in sport will get you better mpg at highway speeds. It locks it into 8th and essentially stays out of boost completely. 10th gear is in boost at speed and knocks mpg down 1-2 depending on the day. I daily it in sport all the time and I'm really happy with it.

Does the Axle not count as a "A 4x4 system" change?
I guess the 4x4 change would be from Part time to Full time 4x4?
