Got roped into romping around the northern parts of Death Valley
… I once got ‘roped’ to go to Death Valley, the day before we learned we weren’t going to the valley but Telescope Peak and Panamint Mountain…. I have never been so cold, it was beautiful like your pictures. Thanks for the reminder.

Is the last photo of Eureka Valley? The sand dunes are way too tall to be the ones in Death Valley.

Death Valley is amazing with lots to explore. Those are great night sky photos. Did you take those with a digital SLR camera, or were those with your phone’s camera?
Taken with a Sony A7iv with a 20mm 1.8 lens, shutter open for 30s

Correct, Eureka Dunes. That's inside DVNP, is there another area thats more specifically considered DV? I want to hit the southern end next time. Second stop was at Warm springs.

Cool, I see my buddy Steve there. I need to see this (very remote) part of DV.

Dude, Steve crushed it. That Subaru seriously impressed me. Here it is in Lipincott Pass.

I had to spot him nearly the whole time to avoid sidewall damage, but it did very well. His biggest disadvantage was approach angle.

I've been blessed to have seen it in several areas and it never fails to awe me.
Backcountry southern UT is great for it, DV like this thread is about is outstanding, and Big Bend, Tx may have the blackest and darkest skies I've seen anywhere.
We camped one night out west of the park past Lajitas, Tx (right there in Big Bend Ranch State Park) and it was cloudy when we arrived and already dark. Blackness so dense it just absorbed the headlights. Once the clouds cleared off it was beautiful.
If you ever get the slightest chance, get out there somewhere remote like that and it's nearly indescribable how amazing it is.

This. Reminds me of far northern MN at night, out on water. It's amazing to behold.

Cold, LOL. As we start each day of the last week in the negative teens.....
Yeah I left the Midwest because that’s just not for me. I suppose I could invert that point and invite you out into the desert in August.
