Sorry but WT is the biggest non model ever. It literally has no purpose except to grab people that think they are getting the best model. It does NOTHING special. All it is is a less than desirable interior and black painted parts. Should have been a blackout package for the OBX and been done with it.
What you described is EXACTLY why the Wildtrak exists. Remember, the above lineup is how Ford sees it, not a customer.

No worries. This is a sorta "Man behind the curtain" type post. The recent "why doesn't BD..." threads made me realize that some people were under the impression that BD was a junior Badlands and frustrated that Ford locks you out of obtaining that status from the factory sans Sasquatch. I was just illustrating why that is. If you think of the model lineup as I have it listed, everything will make sense as to why these oddities exist.
I think some people think Ford has their best interests at heart but they’re a corporation out for money. In a perfect world all these models would exist with varying suspension components, seats, floors, bumpers etc but any package could be added.

Ford sells you on the packages and hopes you’ll spend more because you want it.

I agree there are 4 models, but my list would be:
  • Base
  • Black Diamond (can upgrade to BL)
  • OBX (can upgrade to WT)
  • First Edition
Not sure I feel good about having first edition on there but I wanted to have four.

As a BD buyer those threads drive me nuts.

It doesn't matter how much verity you offer people they'll find something to complain about.

Of you want a bigger screen and 33s factory then offer that on another trim, stop bitching it's not offered on the trim you want.

I got news for you you don't want that trim. You want the one that offers the stuff you want. You just don't want to pay the upcharge.

That's not how any of this works. You get what you pay for. Want the nicer thing pay for it.

I selected the trim that gives me the best balance of options I want vs what I can/want to pay. That's the BD.

If I could get the base with MGV and mid package and advanced 4x4 I would have but they don't offer that.

Oh and I would have end up in the same place price wise anyways. BECAUSE I JUST DISSCRIBED THE BLACK DIAMOND.

funny idea for a thread. Gave me a chance to blow of some steam.

I see what you are saying. Makes sense, Ford doesn’t want you in models where you get the better bang for your buck.

Other than FE it is the only trim that comes standard with Sasquatch, 2.7L, Auto Trans, Blackout package......ie; trail ready Baja machine that also has sport mode. So there’s that. Anything else you order will need thousands of dollars in upgrades to get to where the WT starts. I switched from WT to BL but the WT definitely deserves its own trim.

Is this supposed to be satire? Anyone coming here for actual/real information is going to be led astray by whatever point you're trying to make

Uh no. You can take an OBX and add Sas, same price and done. Nothing Baja ready any more than the rest of them with Sas.

That’s why I said standard on the WT. with your logic, why not do away with the OBX since it’s just a stripped down WT. Anyways, it’s a silly argument. You get what you pay for, and with the Wildtrak you get/or can get the best of everything (except Rock crawl mode) but you pay premium.

more and more misinformation... B, BB, BD, OBX, WT, and BL are not models. The model is Bronco, Ford refers to the subcategories as 'series'. Sure it sounds like a minor thing, but if one is going to claim to be a definitive source, at least get the nomenclature right.

Like that other thread where the guy wants to sticky it and got the very first sentence wrong (among other items). Hint; not getting your order in by 4/8 does not automatically lock you out of 2021MY, just the first quarter of production (which will also presumably slide as we near second quarter).
