How often do you use electronic stabilizer bar disconnect

Looking to purchase a two door Bronco, pretty much exclusively to use off road, trails, etc., especially in the Southwest/Utah. Not planned to be a daily driver.

Was pretty much decided on a Badlands, but recently came across an Outer Banks with SAS, High, Lux for a pretty good deal.

Wondering how much I will regret not having the electronic stab disconnect...... This is my first foray into off-roading, I have never done any before and not sure how much it would be used.

For those that have that feature and off-road, how much do you find yourself actually using it?

I use it every time I am on the trail.... I am not a racer... I putt along. disconnecting is just like airing down on lighter easier trails.... It makes the ride so much smoother and softer.

Now I have the pandora's box of factory or aftermarket decision..... I can definitely see the advantage to not having it connected in with the myriad of computers which will decide what is best for me if the stab disconnect fails or something. Or over 20mph apparently ( thanks for that tip) The nanny-state response is alive and well in these now-a-days (alive and well in my '23 f150)

Time is somewhat working against me tho. I still need to get whatever I buy ready to TOAD with my camper. Now add in aftermarket research/additions, shakedown driving before I head out into the middle of nowhere with it, etc.....

If it helps with the decision, I don’t even run a front sway bar on our broncos. One of which has 12” of front travel and 19” of rear travel. Rear swaybar only.

From what you're saying, you're out in the Cisco/Moab area already. I spent the last weekend on Dome Plateau and Sevenmile Rim. I had it disconnected the whole time. There are just a few places up there where you're likely to get over 20 mph in any event unless you have a stronger bladder than mine and it comes in really handy when clearing an obstacle that's off camber. Up at the top of the plateaus, you'll have some sand roads, but you're going to be doing crawling to get up there.

I think I noted a 27 degree off camber with the stabar disconnected at one point on the trip. I was safe but it sure does add to the pucker factor! I'd have been really upset without it, just from a mental comfort perspective! That little bit less articulation would have meant a greater amount of off camber and it just gets kind of spooky.

Now, whether you get stock or aftermarket, that's up to you!

On the other hand, I like my Badlands trim because I can hose it out. Between trail dust and a Siberian Husky dog, I do a lot of hosing the Bronco out.

That said, when I did Off Roadeo, I did it in a Sasquatch Big Bend and it was fine. I just feel a lot safer up there in my Badlands. I wasn't too worried about rolling that Big Bend at the Off Roadeo since it didn't belong to me!

Ha ha...right there with you on that. In addition to the stop sale issue, that is also on my mind in the new vs used decision. I can see a mental block forming in regards to gacking a brand new one out there.

Something that already has a little "love" on it......? 'meh. Full steam ahead so to speak lol.

Actually not out there yet. I spend 2.5 months or so in summer/early fall. May be leaving this Bronco out there at the temp storage spot I get for my camper, which would then become not so temp.

Have a feeling a move is inevitable tho......lol.

LOL - one other thing - the Jeepers like to give us a little good natured flak from time to time. I wound up with a TJ and a JL following me around and gave them a little ribbing back.

The TJ was a super nice couple from Minnesota and the JL was a guy from Kansas. We all had fun!

After test off-roading other Broncos with and without the disconnect, I added the disconnect wired to AUX switch - mostly for offroad comfort. It's been working great for me.

Is there a way to change the factory sway bar disconnect to be controlled manually with an AUX switch? I imagine the trickiest part is making the computer not know the SB is there.

Depends on who you ask. Some pretty smart guys like @SierraBronco hate it due to the implementation. Without putting words in his mouth, I believe he'd say buy the OBX and install the swaybar so that it's not tied to the computer to screw you over when it fails at an inconvenient time.
