Towed my 22 Base to the dealer following a battery change and all the same warning lights/malfunctions that other owners have written about on this forum. One week later and they still don't know the problem. Battery is draining and various warning lights continue to be in place, and parking brake doesn't seem to disengage.

Here is my question: Car was purchased new March 22'. No mods, no electrical add-on's like lights, stereo, etc. Always serviced at dealer and through Cardoc which I purchased at pick up. Saw on a social media post someone in the same situation had a Ford "buy-back?" Anyone know how that would work and under what conditions?

Thanks for any input!

Vehicle buyback is typically done via the lemon law. Specifics vary state to state, so check the rules for your area.

In general, if a vehicle visits a repair shop X times for the same problem and it remains unresolved, it may qualify. X is often 3, and there is usually a time frame or mileage requirement. There are lawyers that specialize in lemon law and their fee is paid by the manufacturer, so it's in your best interest to hire one if your vehicle qualifies.

If successful, you will turn the car in at an approved dealership and they will pay off your loan, if you have one, and then cut you a check for any payments you made + down payment at time of purchase + any equity you have in the vehicle.

Good Luck!

How much is the drain? Dealer should be able to measure how much in milliamps... Then start tracing which circuit is making the pull.... Once they know the circuit they should be able to identify what the potential issues are.

I'm sure this is frustrating, but it's unlikely a buyback is warranted or even eligible for a first time problem on a 3 year old vehicle. Who are you talking to at the dealership? If the service advisor is not getting you answers, speak with the service manager. It's likely they need to get a more senior technician involved, which may need service manager engaged. Good luck and please report back on the solution provided.

Some Broncos get updates via the built in modem, which may or may not provide functionality you want, or may or may not remove functionality you want or break something. Personally I turned off the auto updates a couple years ago and haven't looked back

Latest update: Unbelievable. Vehicle in the shop for 5 weeks, in part because the service techs made a mistake replacing the front cover and it led to an oil leak they had to chase. Anyway, as for electronics, they tell me it was a "passenger window switch" then on the invoice it says it was the driver side door. Which one and which part got replaced?

Proceed on a road trip from SF to Joshua Tree. Car handles fine, including overland from JT to Big Bear (great trail!). Climb 5 miles to dispersed camping in Big Bear, car shuts off when I stop (motor running). Put it in park, starts up. Decide to go back down the hill and stay in a hotel to spare a 5-mile walk in the morning to get a jump.

Car starts next morning; drive 2 hours to Pasadena, waiting in line at a residential security booth car dies. Stone cold, no nothing. 15 minutes later, car starts. Now at home, has happened three more times, including when my teenage daughter was driving through rushhour. Car going in Monday. About the 4th time I've had an electronic problem.

@MJBbase22 If your Ford app is connected, message me the VIN so I can pull the codes.

In the shop for 5 weeks? Lemon law it.

Out of Service: The vehicle has been in the shop for more than 30 days (not necessarily in a row) for any repair
