I had a Bronco Sport before my current Bronco. I always go to the self serve car wash, with the hand wand. Went around washing it up, got in to get more quarters... "why the hell is everything all wet inside"!? I forgot to put up the passenger window.

So we're going to ignore last nights adventure in the rain without my hard top on and say that the dumbest thing I ever did was to go up this hill without plates or knowledge of the size of the rocks on top of this ledge. It was steep enough that I dragged my spare tire along the ground at the transition. I made it up this on the second attempt with some scuffing on all the things, but needed to "build a road" to get over the rocks 50 feet past this.

I'm lifted on 37s. Didn't even think about it while driving into the parking garage at the airport since it fit just fine before. Drove straight into the garage height warning bar with some speed. I felt extremely stupid trying to get the guy behind to back up so I could go park on the roof...

What is the dumbest thing you have done in your Bronco?

Mine was yesterday. My excuse is I was tired and hadn't eaten anything all day but still....

Got into my Bronco (first drive of the day in the afternoon). Started it. Waited for the revs to drop. It would not go into gear. The shift release button was stuck/woudn't push in. Shut it down, restarted - no difference.
So I sit there and think - great, broken down w only 2300 miles on it. How am I going to deal with getting this fixed?
Then I put my foot on the brake and...... yeah what a dumba$$!

I don't have any excuse. Yeah I was tired, hungry, my previous and existing other rides are manual transmission.
So what? The saving grace is I did not call for a tow before figuring it out :)

Now don't tell anyone about this, this is just between us. So what is the dumbest ish you've done?

this rock sticking out was unfortunate

I have a long and checkered history with pony walls. We drove to Oregon on vacation a couple of years back. Stopped at a really nice view spot about 10 mins from where we were staying. Got in, put it in Drive, hit the gas, and BAM - pony wall!

Had the capable bumper, which got pushed back enough to make the plastic contact the front passenger tire a bit. Thankfully, I had my large tin snips in my tool bag. Drove back to the airbnb and did a little custom trimming.

Planned on an an aftermarket bumper anyway, so this accelerated that replacement a bit.

This makes at least the 3rd pony wall I've hit in my lifetime.

I know it's not exactly what you meant, but for me it's probably buying a 2 door and then having 3 kids 😅

(In my defense I had 0 when I ordered it lol)
A 2023 Bronco with zero kids, and now it is 2026 with three kids…? Wow! You sir are the man. Well done.

My friend got me a Steeda Axleback for a belated birthday/christmas gift, it goes so well with the CVFab downpipe🙃

Waiting for the shop next to my office to find the time to install the Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator I got to tone it down a bit

I was going to Merus one weekend early in the morning after sleeping rough all night long. Stopped at this gas station that wasn't open, pumps weren't on (Amarillo on I-40, surprised me they weren't 24hrs) . 🤦‍♂️ Ok, next gas station, also not open but pumps appeared to work. Took my card, dribbled gas out for a few minutes. 🤦‍♂️ Next gas station, also closed and really beat up, but hey, pump works! Get gas, go walk around, "what's the running water...?" Ah shit, the pump didn't shut off. Gas everywhere. Next time I was in Amarillo a few weeks later, gas station is closed.

So I go to a grocery store to get some breakfast, they were out of what I wanted. 🤦‍♂️ Got some other stuff I didn't want. There was a Quick Quack car wash right there, so I pull in to get Bronco washed, drive in the wrong way. 🤦‍♂️ Roll down my passenger window to talk to the guy who came running out. I pull around, roll down my driver side window, talk to the guy about the shitty morning I'd been having, he gives me the wash on the house (he was really great, very nice guy). It turns on, I start rolling in, wait foam and smelly water everywhere! The guy saw it at the last minute, stops the machine, I'm so disoriented I don't know what's happened for a second, he's like, "ROLL YOUR PASSENGER WINDOW UP!!" Oh! (y) 🤦‍♂️

I did make it there on time. Epically bad morning, though. I'd had my Bronco for like three months.

I regularly use the little "wing" above the door handle to close the door. I learned to not have my finger(s) in between when closing... :(
I did something very similar - I closed my fingers in the driver door grabbing the edge trying to prevent it from slamming when parked on a slope. Then proceeded to almost pass out (I had a strong vasovagal response)

Last fall, enjoying a topless fall drive, decided to explore an unknown road that disappeared into the woods... It quickly turned to gravel/dirt.....it was very dry.... I had no top..... I kept going.... Spent the rest of the weekend cleaning the interior. Stupidity lesson learned. 🤠
That happened to me in an old Jeep Wrangler. I took a road trip from LA to San Fran along Pacific Coast Hwy the entire way. It was summer so I checked the long distance forecast - no rain forecast anywhere in California for the next couple of weeks.
Awesome! Removed the soft top, packed sunblock and headed out.
By Big Sur I decided to explore the dirt roads going up into the mountains. Clouds of dust behind me but if I...just...didn't...stop... everything would be fine.
A freakin Subaru coming the other way saw me, wanted to talk (I guess ask for directions), so blocked the road with his car forcing me to stop. Sunny beaches that cloud of dust I was racing against won....

My most recent dumb thing I have done in my bronco was when I was parked on a hill. I start the bronco up no problem and wait for the rpms to drop then put it in drive and wonder why I am not going….. well I later found out I still had the parking brake on 🤦‍♂️

I’ve made my share of bad decisions such as willingly following a 4Runner owner who solved trail problems by knocking trees down ranks pretty high.

But the Cyber Orange presence here is wild. Feels less like a color choice and more like a warning label.
