I'm trying to find a solution for letting our 42lb dog ride in our 2-door Bronco. I don't mind folding the rear seats down or leaving them up, just need something for him to comfortably sit or lay in when we go for rides. I thought the Ford Pet Kennel (SKU: VM1PZ19H376A) would be the solution and even on Ford's online store it says it will fit my 2-door Bronco (I put in the VIN #). But elsewhere I'm reading that it won't fit the 2-door with the seats up or down. If anyone has other solutions that work, please share. Thank you!

If you don't mind a little handwork it might be easier to make what works for you than buy something. My dog Olli does well loose in back. I understand a non-crate is no-go for some. Total cost was less than $200 including a K-9 blanket to keep him from crawling in front. Home Depot purchase of 4x4 1/2" plywood, an 8' - 1x6, some outdoor carpet and adhesive and piano hinge. I found a 5/4 8' piece of redwood in discard pile with rounded corners which was nice find. Ripped 1x6 to 4.5" and made a U-shaped frame making sure frame rests on either side of storage lid so it can be opened. I cut for snug fit (not overly tight so pieces can be lifted) then wrapped carpet around platform and stapled underneath. Plywood piece over folded down seats could be anywhere form 12-18" and same width as platform, and attached with piano hinge. This allows seats to be raised and section on hinge raises behind rear seats. It also allows rear portion to also be raised for access to tool storage bin lid. Since rear portion lifts up for access, I added some rubber foam in back corners to snug it up. Additional storage underneath platform is helpful for misc. stuff. Rear cut out on left is angled to accommodate shape of tailgate. Its plenty sturdy when I crawl in side - no sagging, tilting or movement. I ended up throwing some moving blankets on top for easy shaking and cleaning.

I built this using a few 1x6’s and Plywood for my dogs and car camping. It’s worked well so far

Fold back seats down and throw a furniture blankets back there to keep the hair off the seats.

Works for a well behaved 75 pound yellow lab.

That's actually Blitzen up front in the '72... but he loves the '22 just as much.

I found a cheap'ish hard case on Amazon that fits perfectly, creates a flat floor with the seats folded down. Threw a shop mat on top for grip & trapping hair, and tether that snaps into one of the rear seatbelt buckles. Works great!

I got some thick memory foam and cut it to fit against the folded down bump. Then I put the Mabett dog protecting blanket over that. Works pretty good for my old man.

Wow yall really spoil your dogs! I just fold my seats down and put a blanket or cushion in the trunk section and my dogs are happy. Unfortunately we lost our black and white girl in January and she was my cruisin buddy. The beagle just tolerates the rides.

My little guy gets car sick every now and then (more when he was younger), so cleanable surfaces were a must. I went with the 3WLiners for better coverage.

I also went the Pelican case route to level it with the seats down and trimmed a Maverick bed liner to make it a single flat surface. Great for carrying things and I just throw some blankets down when my dog rides along.

If I remember right it's a Pelican 1700. Other people are using a Pelican Vault case that seems to fit slightly better, but this one was cheaper and still works extremely well.
