I got the 2 door for the short wheel base. When I am loading gear in the back seat area I wish I had more doors to get stuff in there. But I have never wished for my two door to be longer.

A long 2 door would be the worst of both worlds for me. Too long on tight trails and no easy way to get gear in the back seat area.

Now if The back side windows would swing up for easier loading of stuff that would be nice. Seams like I always have an ice chest, tool bag and air compressor between me the the gear I am trying to get to. So I end up pulling all that out onto the trail, getting what I need out and then reloading it all back in. Then I have to repeat this 5 times per hour, each time dirt sticks to the gear as I put it back in and I end up with 5 lbs of sand I will need to clean out of the Bronco.

Agreed, I do understand the attraction of a longer 2 door Wrangler though if it makes the Jeep (front solid axle) cruise more stable. I got rid of my 2 door Wrangler as I couldn't stand the cruise instability. The Brronco independent front end takes care of that. I also prefer the short 2 door Bronco. :)

You are right, I had not thought about the stability on a wrangler. That would be a benefit to a longer wheelbase, it would ride nicer on the highway. But even then I would like to have easier loading of gear with more access points of 2 more doors.

I love my 2 door but every trip I do have a point where I am a little jealous of my friends 4 door when were are stopping to eat lunch on the trail and he has it easier getting to everthing.

Curious how many would buy the two door if it was on the LWB four door platform?

I would in a heart beat.
I recall seeing an FJ45 in China, the long wheelbase troop carrier but only two side doors instead of the usual four.

The LJ is very close to a B6G 4dr with a shorter wheel base …

As someone stated earlier it would have been nice for a 2dr to have a few more inches

I used to own one of these, IH Scout Traveler. Rear seat folded forward and left a perfectly flat floor, I threw a twin size mattress back there. Thing was a beast, could go anywhere.

I'd probably buy one. It'd look more like the Gen 5's with the LWB, IMO.
If they made a longer 2-door that looked like a modernized Gen 2 ('78-'79) I'd buy one. I loved my '79.
