So, I change my own oil and i have NEVER had oil come out like a cow pissing on a flat rock. THe flow of drain oil overwhelms my drain pan. I literally use a 2 gallon bucket to catch it so it doesnt go everywhere. The great news is that the hardest part is getting the skid plate off and I LOVE how easy the filter is to change. I change at roughly 3K as well, every turbo engine is different, this is my 4th turbo engine and they really are harder on oil. I run my ranger to 4 or 5K as it seems to be fine with it. Let me know if anyone else has oil interval comments.

You need to finesse the plug removal just tilt it up to slowly release the stream for 15-30 sec then it's fine.

Yeah I just hold it for a bit so it comes out slow for an agonizing minute and then pull it away for the rest

Oil change and tire rotation every 5K miles with full synthetic.

Agreed on the ronin plug !! Had probably an entire quart on my driveway on my first oil change due to this same cow piss effect. My oil drain pan is the box type with a hole at the top. It splashed everywhere. Ronin plug reduces diameter and has an easy had tighten/ loosen release. Well worth the money. Factory yellow plug is a nightmare!

One of these days Ford will get it right:

Either you have an easy filter, but your plug pisses all over you,
or you have an easy plug, and the filter pisses all over you.

Neither engine wins here.
