Yeah, I'm March 2022 as well. Ford will fight tooth and nail to avoid responsibility, just like they did with the panoramic roofs. And they won with the panoramic roof. They didn't fix anything.Well, I guess my March 2022 build is SOL. Top has cracks all over and the front panels are honeycombed.
it’s a safety recall lol they aren’t going to wait to notify othersThat is a narrow window, I get a feeling that they are rolling out this recall in batches.
That's exactly what Ford did for the cruise control switch recall years ago, and that was absolutely more hazardous than a delaminating hard top.it’s a safety recall lol they aren’t going to wait to notify others![]()
There's a BIG difference between adding more to the recall after finding others had issues and "rolling out" a recall in batches. That's exactly what Ford did for the cruise control switch recall years ago, and that was absolutely more hazardous than a delaminating hard top.

Ford's response was to recall the affected vehicles in waves over a 10 year period since they had millions of cars/trucks with the defective switch.
Whatever you want to call it, Ford is aware of an inherently defective part and continues to use that part. Ford put the defective Texas Instruments cruise control switch into cars/trucks/vans for YEARS despite the design itself being a fire hazard. There's a BIG difference between adding more to the recall after finding others had issues and "rolling out" a recall in batches.
I'm not saying others wont get added to this recall or there wont be another recall down the road, but they aren't "rolling out" the recall.
At this time, the dates affected are the only ones they see an issue with. If there was proof others had a similar potential issue, the NHTSA would make them recall the others instantly.
All of that aside, the amount of tops delaminating bad enough to even cause a potential safety concern (which is what this recall is for) is probably extremely few. So even if they did expand this recall, I have a feeling the amount replaced will be few and far between.Whatever you want to call it, Ford is aware of an inherently defective part and continues to use that part. The initial switch recall started with early '90s Panther platform cars but not vehicles using the exact same switch. The switch was always powered (even if the car was off) and would catch the master cylinder and brake fluid on fire. Ford even continued to use the same switch in new cars. Later on Ford /NHTSA recalled the 2000 model year of the F-150 but not the 2001-2003 model years, which were basically the same truck with the same part. I remember buying the redesigned switch for my not-yet-recalled 2002 F-150, having the parts counter guy tell me my truck wasn't affected, and then almost a year later Ford notified me that my truck was recalled... By then I had already installed the redesigned switch but I think Ford added a wiring harness with a fuse as well. In total 17.5 million vehicles ended up being recalled.
Considering how dangerous that defective switch is compared to a de-laminating hard top, I don't have a lot of faith that Ford/NHTSA will properly address the issue...
Unrelated but Ford was supposed to have a software update for 2025 2.3L to correct the cold start misfire issue in Q2. Do you know if that's available yet? I seem to get the CEL every 6 weeks or so still.it’s a safety recall lol they aren’t going to wait to notify others![]()
No. The SSM still says Q2, so hopefully soon.Unrelated but Ford was supposed to have a software update for 2025 2.3L to correct the cold start misfire issue in Q2. Do you know if that's available yet? I seem to get the CEL every 6 weeks or so still.
Wrong. I’m on my 3rd replacement. 2 of them were delivered in worse shape than the ones they replaced. This is on Ford, not the end user. Btw, my 2007 JK has sat outside in the desert nearly its entire life and the top looks significantly better than my replacement tops did when I picked them up from the dealer on a Bronco garage kept, babied, hand washed only. And no I never waxed the top either if you’ve been around long enough for that wise bit of “rationale” that was once thrown around.4th replacement? Sounds like more of an issue with you/where you live/how you treat your Bronco than an issue with Ford. My 2023 top still looks brand new:
- Parked in garage (not outside)
- Self wash only (never auto wash or touch wash)
- Avoid long stints in the blazing sun
Zero cracks, zero issues.
