Went to Off Roadeo yesterday and they all kept talking about the fat pedal and the skinny pedal.

I guess that's what all the cool kids say today. :like: I'm old I guess because it was always the 'long one' or the 'short one' or often 'the up and down' or 'the sideways' pedal.

Of course I learned to drive when they were all fat pedals.

Well the T, my 68 deVille and the 59 Edsel had all big pedals. You needed a lead foot.

Must be a generational thing, like calling a trigger the 'bang switch' which when one thinks of it is what they should call the safety.

Any other weird idioms out there.

Y'all are missing a pedal.

I am guessing “fat pedal“ is less commonly heard compared to “skinny pedal”, especially in enthusiast settings like a track event or car clinic, because there is no fat pedal when there are 3 pedals. In manuals, there’s a skinny pedal and the other two - which are small. 😁

Other terminology I usually hear is “go pedal” and “whoa pedal”, but usually it’s simply ”gas” and ”brake”.

I actually learned on a standard. Drove one for the first 2 decades of my driving life, including the M35. Then after the umpteenth time hating my life commuting in Boston traffic I swore never again. To misquote Ron Popeil, 'set it and forget it'.

When I was born, they were using Preparation "B".
I have no idea what they are using now.

Old is the new young!! Yes we know how to drive manuals, we know great music (best ever) and great/silly television and cartoons. Some of us grew up hotrodding!! Experience has it's advantages
